BUTTON FLOWER EAR RING 23

I’ve been on a mad ear ring spree.. just making motifs and stringing them into ear ring hooks.  I just made a few cat motifs , a cute lil dog motif , an elephant and now this tiny doily motif.
Today we’re going to make a button flower ear ring which I am hoping to successfully convert into jewelry.
Let’s see how many ways you can use it.

Thank you for joining me.

Materials used : Today I’ve used a combination of our lovely Indian Red rose knitting yarn with a 1.3 mm crochet hook ; ready-made ear ring hooks (one pair minimum) ; beads ; jewlery chainglue to seal ends.
For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros ; Red rose metallic or   unbranded knitting cotton as well
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

Today I’m going to use a video I’d seen before to make a flower out of a button.

So once that little flower is done, all you need to do is attach it onto an ear ring hook for ear rings or a ring to make it a pendant.  Isn’t that too cool.. this is not going to take you even half an hour ! Come along.

What I did differently?
a)   The video shows you a button with four holes.  I had a cool wooden button with just two holes – and I did just what the video says, but working 4 & 5 stitches through the two holes, to get 9 stitches all around – so a 9-petalled flower at the end.
b)   I decided to add a few beads as I went along.  Check the top of this blog for a how to work with beads.
c)     I also made one pendant with a flat bead that had no holes on top.  It had holes on the side.  So I just passed the yarn through the holes, and then worked the flower petals all around.  I added beads when making the petals.  To see how to pass yarn through a bead (with side holes), check my earlier blog at https://shyamanivas.blogspot.com/2018/12/hoop-ear-ring-15.html for information.

I’ve made lots of cute little ear rings .. for a quick one-stop-shop, check out these ideas at https://in.pinterest.com/shyamanivas/17-my-jewellery-made-by-me/

Finishing :
To make this into a pair of ear rings : Attach yarn to the centre of the motif and attach that yarn to the hook of your ear ring.
OR neatly attach it to the centre of an ear ring hoop.

To make this into a pendant : Attach a little pendant hook onto the centre of the motif and slip it neatly into a necklace chain.
