I’ve
been on a mad ear ring spree.. just making motifs and stringing them into ear
ring hooks
With
many of my earlier ear rings, while we worked with a hoop, we worked either
inside it with a tiny doily or just outside.
With this creation, there is a big
bead that’s the pivot for this whole creation.
Beads
show off our creativity, so be adventurous.

Materials used : Today I’ve used the lovely Milford
Satin knitting cotton yarn with a 1.3 mm crochet hook ; ready-made ear ring hooks (one pair minimum) ; beads ; connector rings ; glue to seal ends.
International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn. ; one pair of ear ring
hook per creation ; one pair of large beads per creation. Optional : extra
small beads to dangle.
For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red rose ; Red rose metallic or unbranded knitting cotton as well
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

Instructions using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.
I
saw this ear ring and knew that I had to make it. There is no chart or diagram, and these are
just my notes as I work on my own creation.
Once
again do note that these are just ideas and you can work with any yarn (and
suitable hook) using any bead as pivot to make this project.
You
can start with any number of stitches that work for you as in this pattern
stitch count does not matter.
The
pivot for this ear ring is the large bead.
We
start by threading our yarn through the bead and looping it around to the other
side. There will be a yarn running under
the bead, and its in this yarn that we start our work.
Easier
explanation : Pass your hook through the hole of the bead and loop the yarn
using a slip knot from the opposite end.
Pull the yarn through. Then go
from under the bead and make a sc or sl-st on the yarn at the other end. You now have the bead locked in, and a yarn
running under the bead. This is the yarn
we will use. Got it?
We
will work in rows, side to side.
Start Row 1 : by passing your yarn through the bead and
looping it through the other side. Work
18 dc in that long side to side yarn. Turn.
Rows 2 - 3 : dc in the 1st 2 sts ; 2 dc in the
next st ;
(dc
in the next 2 sts ; 2 dc in the next st) ;
rep
(to) till end. Turn.
We
will work a ch-3 picot which is ch-3, sl-st in the 3rd ch from hk.
Now
here your creativity comes in.. you can work just the picot.. or you can add in
bead in instead of the picot .. or you can work in both the picot or bead.
Let
your mind soar in creativity.
How to work a picot stitch : Traditionally for a ch-3 picot, you work (ch 3, sl-st in 3rd ch from hook). For a ch-5 picot, you will do (ch 5, sl-st in 5th ch from hook).
