DELICATE SACHET
I was on a big soap dispenser cover making spree
and chanced on this so cute delicate sachet cover – and thought this would be
an ideal ‘extra lil’ gift .. esp for
Xmas – so here’s the first in this series.. I am sure there are gonna be
several more following. This is so cute and delicate that you could make it into a bridal purse as well.. just work with a slightly thicker yarn and hook.
Create something beautiful and spread smiles.

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.
I found a
photograph (below) and a chart but am unable to find any written pattern for it. http://tecendoartesesonhos.blogspot.com/2009/08/sache-delicado.html#links
I have the
designer’s permission to share my notes for what I have done.
The designer
has used trc (triple crochet) sts all through.
I have used dc in some places instead.
So see what size you get and
decide what stitch suits you best.
Magic circle : To refresh your skill, please view this easy video https://youtu.be/ISC39yOqWro
What is a slip stitch : Here is a neat video tutorial at https://youtu.be/weB3QNbA8Iw
Single Crochet : Sc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (2 lps on hk); yo, draw through both lps. One sc made. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/ghACqBpA-3k
First stitch for Single Crochet : This is how I like to start my row of sc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/6pVYRfsf4_M
Start
: with a magic circle and work 10 sc in it.
Join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Pull lightly
to close
In the following round, we use a dc 4-tog.
Double crochet 4-tog as a decrease stitch : dc 4-tog : Here is an easy video tutorial for working a dc 4-tog over 4 sts at https://youtu.be/WjSNi7ithIU
Double crochet 4-tog as a decorative stitch : dc 4-tog : Here is an easy video tutorial for working a dc 4-tog all in the same stitch as a decorative stitch at https://youtu.be/_B0-ye0cClU
What is a chain stitch ? Here is an easy video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXx5ukBjKkY
Triple Crochet : trc : wrap yarn twice around hook, insert hk into st ; yo (4 lps on hk); [yo, draw through 2 lps] three times. One trc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/A0y4BbgDTbs
Round
1 : trc in the 1st st ;
ch 2, dc
4-tog in the next st ;
(ch 2, trc in the next st ;
ch 2, dc 4-tog in the next
st) ;
rep (to) all around
and join with a sl-st to the 1st
st.
Round
2 : sc in the 1st trc ;
(3 sc in the next ch-2 sp ;
sc in the next st) ;
rep (to) all
around
and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Double Crochet : dc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk);
[yo, draw through 2 lps] twice. One dc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/xdnjB27zpYo
Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/wskv3iTjRx0
(ch 2, sk next 3 sc, 4 dc in the next sc) ;
rep (to) all
around ;
ch 2, and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Once again we will use the dc 4-tog, but this
time, we will work it over four stitches. So all the four dc that you just worked in
Round 3 will all be picked up one after the other to create one dc 4-tog.
The end result after this round will be a
neat diamond/oval like stitch
Round
4 : dc 4-tog over the 1st 4 dc ;
(ch 4, dc in the next ch-2 sp ;
dc 4-tog over next 4 dc)
;
rep (to) all
around ;
ch 4, and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Round
5 : sl-st into the 1st ch-4 sp, 4 sc
in the same 1st ch-4 sp ;
(ch 3, sk next dc 4-tog, 4 sc in the next ch-4 sp ;
ch 3, sk next dc, 4 sc in the next ch-4 sp) ;
rep (to) all
around ;
ch 3, and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
In the
following row, we will work from one ch-3 sp all around till the 5th
ch-3 sp.
We will leave four ch-3 sps in
the centre un-worked.
These four un-worked
spaces will form the ‘mouth’ opening for your little sachet bag.
So from the
following row, we will work side to side and not in a round.
So after you
sl-st into the 1st ch-3 sp, you may want to place a marker in the 5th
ch-3 sp from end for your convenience.
Row
6 : sl-st into the 1st ch-3 sp, (1 sc
; 1 hdc ; 2 dc) all in the same ch-3 sp ;
[ch 1, sk next 4 sc, 5 dc in the next ch-3 sp) ;
rep (to) all
around till one ch-3 sp before the marked one ;
{ch 1, 2 dc ; 1
hdc ; 1 sc} all in the last marked sp.
Fasten
off. One side of your pouch made.
Work up to here for the second side, but do not fasten off when you reach the end. We will join both sides and work for the top bit in one continuous movement.
Also remember
that you may choose to join the sides as you go. Check the top of this blog for
many ‘how to join’ ideas.
Right then, off
you go to make the second side of this sachet.
Now once you
have finished the second side of the sachet, you have joined the sides, and you
are now on the top of your sachet – in the last ch-4 sp. We will start right here.
Top bit of sachet : Working in rounds.
For convenience, I am re-numbering.
Now remember we
have left four ch-4 sps and then we have the two side ch-4 sps in which you
started working for the sides. You have
two sets of these spaces, one each for front and back. So whatever you do along one side, you will
repeat and mirror along the back.
This is our “hole round”, through which you can pass your
satin ribbon or cord to tie up your sachet.
Round 1 : trc in the 1st ch-3 sp,
({ch 4, dc in the next ch-3 sp} ;
[ch 4, sc in the next
ch-3 sp] ;
rep [to] once ;
rep {to} once ;
ch 4, trc in the last ch-3 sp) and
you are done with one side ;
rep (to) for the other side of the sachet.
Note :
Remember that as we have joined the two sides, you will use only one of the
last ch-3 sps.
You will not have 2 trc sts next to one another.
You need to have 2 trc ; 4 dc and 4 sc when you are done.
In the following row, you can use a dc or a trc.
I am writing it as charted.
Round 2 : trc in the 1st trc ;
(ch 3, trc in
the next ch-4 sp ;
ch 3, trc in the next st) ;
rep (to) all
around ;
ch 3, and join
with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Triple / Treble crochet 3-tog : trc 3-tog : Here is an easy video tutorial at https://youtu.be/O8HM5j8ZXHw
The chart reads trc 4-tog, but you can work either a 3-tog or a 4-tog depending on the thickness of your yarn.
I am writing the pattern as charted.
Round 3 : sl-st into the 1st ch-3 sp, trc 4-tog in the
same 1st ch-3 sp ;
(ch 4, trc
4-tog in the next ch-3 sp) ;
rep (to) all
around ;
ch 4, and join
with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Round 4 : sl-st into the 1st ch-4 sp, 4 sc in the same
1st ch-4 sp ;
(ch 4, sk next
dc 4-tog, 4 sc in the next ch-4 sp) ;
rep (to) all
around ;
ch 4, and join
with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Round 5 : 10 dc in the 1st ch-4 sp ;
(ch 1, sk next
4 sc ,
10 dc in the next ch-4 sp) ;
rep (to) all
around ;
ch 1, and join
with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Fasten off and
weave in ends.
Put in your fragrance brick or potpourri into the sachet and gift t to someone you love.
Do remember if you are putting potpourri inside, wrap it inside a stocking-net first - so that it does not fall out of this wonderful lacy creation.
