I’ve made rabbit motifs before, as I told you – but there’s always another pattern just waiting for you.  Today's cute lil' motif is one you’ll just love.
We work the whole motif in one continuous movement without cutting the yarn.

Magic circle : To refresh your skill, please view this easy video https://youtu.be/ISC39yOqWro

What is a slip stitch : Here is a neat video tutorial at https://youtu.be/weB3QNbA8Iw

Double Crochet : dc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk);
[yo, draw through 2 lps] twice.  One dc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/xdnjB27zpYo

Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/wskv3iTjRx0

Start (Body) Round 1 : with a magic circle and work 16 dc in it.
Join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Now we will work the feet (or foot in our case – we’re looking at both feet of the rabbit together per se)
Once we finish the foot, we will work up the “stomach” of our rabbit and work on his head and finally the ears.  Got it?

What is a chain stitch ? Here is an easy video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXx5ukBjKkY

(Foot) Row 2 : ch 5.  Turn and sl-st in the 2nd ch from hk ;
sl-st in the next 3 ch (till you reach the body) ;
sl-st along the next 6 sts of the body (stomach) of the rabbit till you’ve reached the top.

We will now create the head of the rabbit.

So while this is still a continuation of Row 2, for convenience, let’s call this Head Round 3.

(Head) Round 3 :
ch 3, sk next st and work 5 dc in the next st. (head done)

Finally let’s work on the two cute ears – which are worked from starting from that last dc you’ve just made.
Once again, for convenience, we’re going to work on Ears Row 4

Half Double Crochet : Hdc :  yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk) ;
yo, draw through all 3 lps.  One hdc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/sDiELJdB2Dg

Chainless start for Half Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 start, and this is what I do to start my row of hdc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/lWXpl1KdbZ8

Single Crochet : Sc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (2 lps on hk); yo, draw through both lps.  One sc made.  Check out the video at https://youtu.be/ghACqBpA-3k

First stitch for Single Crochet : This is how I like to start my row of sc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/6pVYRfsf4_M

(Ears) Row 4 :
*ch 7, sl-st in the 2nd ch from hk ;
sc in the next ch ; hdc in the next ch ;
dc in the next ch ; hdc in the next ch ;
sc in the last ch and sl-st in the same st from where you started your chains (i.e the head dc)* ;
sl-st into the next dc and work *to* once again for the 2nd long floppy ear.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

For the little bobbed tail, you can work in the same brown yarn or change to white yarn.

Re-attach your yarn at the lowest st, which is approximately the 3rd dc to the right from where you started your chains for the foot.  This is not exact and it does not matter – it should just be somewhere along the bottom of your rabbit.

Bob tail : ch 3, 2 dc in the 3rd ch from hk ;
sk 2 sts on the body of the rabbit and sl-st in the next st.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing :
We need to make a small nose and a small eye.
Using your embroidery needle work a small French Knot stitch for the eye and nose.  You can (as I have) opt to use a bead for the eye and a sequin for the nose (which fell off and I didn’t realize when I took these photographs )

If using this as a stationery clip topper, you may need to stiffen your project a bit.
So use Mod Podge or a little bit of Fevicol (white glue) diluted in water (1 part glue to 2 parts water) and apply along the back of your motif. Allow to dry before stitching it onto your stationery clip.
These are just ideas of what you can use to stiffen.. you can do whatever you usually do as well.. whatever works for you :)

Have fun – create something unique.
