STRAWBERRY TOWEL RING HOLDER
After yesterday’s ever so cute towel ring holder / topper, let’s work on a strawberry creation today.

Materials used : Today I’ve used some polyester silk purse yarn with a 4 mm crochet hook and a ring. You could use any color but of course you could use
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any cotton yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

Please note that I start all rows with a ch 1 turning chain for ease.

I’ve used two colors – green for the start stem part and red for the rest of the strawberry.
Today’s creation has four parts.
First we make the strawberry motif.
Then we need to work on the ring (that holds the towel – or through which the towel will go) and finally we need to work on the hanging cord that will hold your towel ring on the hook off the wall. I used a bangle for the towel to pass through (instead of an aluminium or steel ring).

Start Row 1 : (with green) and 7 fsc. Turn.
Double Crochet : dc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk);
[yo, draw through 2 lps] twice. One dc made.

Row 2 : 2 dc in each fsc till end. Turn.

Our “V”-st today is (3 dc ; ch 2, 3 dc) all in the same st or ch-sp
Row 3 : (with red)
“V”-st in the 1st dc ;
ch 1, dc in the next dc ;
(ch 1, dc in the next dc) ;
rep (to) till the last dc ;
“V”-st in the last dc. Turn.
Row 4 : ch 3, “V”-st in the 1st “V”-st ;
ch 3, sk the next ch-1 sp, sc in the next ch-1 sp ;
(ch 1, sc in the next ch-1 sp) ;
rep (to) till the 2nd last ch-1 sp ;
ch 3, “V’-st in the last “V”-st. Turn.
See how we have reduced the shape and started on a triangular shape from now on.
Row 5 : ch 3, “V”-st in the 1st “V”-st ;
ch 3, sc in the next ch-1 sp ;
(ch 1, sc in the next ch-1 sp) ;
rep (to) till the last ch-1 sp ;
ch 3, “V’-st in the last “V”-st. Turn.
Rows 6 – 14 : Rep Row 5. Turn.
Row 15 : ch 3, 3 dc in the 1st “V”-st ;
3 dc in the next ‘V”-st.
Fasten off.
Part 2 : Covering the ring or bangle
Just like we did in yesterday’s creation, we need to run a round of sc all around the ring / bangle first. I worked my sc around my bangle in gold and have used the same gold coloured yarn for the holding yarn.
To cover the ring, you start with a slip knot around the ring and then work sc all around.
How do you work sc?
Like you usually do but you work around the bangle and then grab your yarn to work the sc. See the video tutorial for how to work a sc.

Part 3 : Making the holding chain
Just like we did in yesterday’s creation, I would suggest that you work the loop just as you finish covering the ring. So after you join to the 1st sc, work a long length of chain. The length you work will depend on how long you want it to be hanging off your hook. You will then skip a few chain in the middle of your ring (say 5 – 7 chs) and then join to the ring with a sl-st.
For my creation, instead of working chains, I’ve tried something different (lazy me, always looking for something easier ;) ).. so I just cut a length of yarn that I thought I’d need for the hanging loop and attached that to the other side of the ring, leaving a few sts in between, like I mentioned above.
That said, for all my earlier creations, I worked a total of about 45 chain for this hanging loop and it worked for me.

Part 4 : Putting it all together
Once done with the strawberry motif and have covered the ring, all you need to do is convert this into a ring holder.
Then using an embroidery needle, I have secured my strawberry motif to the top of the ring.
Please use the photograph as a guide. The strawberry totally covers my ring – so the top of the towel will be hidden under the strawberry motif.
Before you fasten off, please hold your creation up with the ring or centre of chain and see that it holds.
Secure your towel holder onto the wall and hang your towel through and smile. This is a beautiful project – one that can not only be made in several colors, but using any yarn and any hook that’s suitable for that yarn.
