Instructions using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern. For your convenience there video tutorials through the blog too
Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.
Before we head off to making our lanyard, a
few ideas. We start with a little holder
that will attach onto your glass strap , then work the lanyard and finish with
a second holder for the other side of your glasses. We will therefore work in one continuous row.
I have used a small clip to attach the
lanyard to the strap. If you do not find
a clip or hook that fits the thickness of you strap, work a small chain loop
around the strap and then start with pattern.
You can decide to add beads. If you do please check the top of this blog
for a ‘how to work with beads’.
Start by
attaching your hook to the yarn.
Then
work 25 ch.
If
adding beads, add your bead now.
Turn
and sl-st in the 3rd ch from hk ;
Turn
and we will work our first flower in the ch-3 sp.
Note
:
In case you find this ch-3 sp too large and loose, make it a ch-2 sp.
For
our flower we will work (ch 3 ; 2 dc ; ch 3) which makes up one petal.
Work
three petals
in the ch-sp ;
Turn
and work 25 ch.
This
is basically what you will do. Work a
chain length, then work a half flower (3 – petals) around the bead, if you are
using a bead, or just in the ch-sp if not using bead.
You
will do this till you are halfway to the length you need. At the halfway point, I have worked a
6-petal flower – so I worked that flower petal pattern six times.
Play
with the addition of beads and petals to get a cute end result.
