SUNFLOWER DOILY
This
is a quick project for a friend who just bought some new wine glasses and
wanted something light and lacy to showcase them

Materials used : Today I’ve used some local Indian Red Heart / Coats Doli thread with a 1.75 mm crochet hook ;
This yarn is not specific for this project.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.
For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red rose ; Red rose metallic or unbranded knitting cotton as well as Oswal or Vardhaman acrylic yarns
International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Please note that I start all my rounds with a ch 1 turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for a video tutorial on all the stitches needed to make this full project.
Finally please note that I take a lot of trouble trying to make my notes as easy as possible - so do go through all my detailed notes before you pick up your yarn.
What
did I do differently?
a) My yarn is a
thinner yarn that the one used in this pattern.
The pattern says finished 22 cm.
I wanted a 10 cm finish, so my thinner yarn kind-of worked.
b) I worked per
pattern till Round 7. I then skipped R8
and worked R9.
c) I changed R9
a bit as I wanted to add in my picot here.
So this is my last round given below
How to work a picot stitch : Traditionally for a ch-3 picot, you work (ch 3, sl-st in 3rd ch from hook). For a ch-5 picot, you will do (ch 5, sl-st in 5th ch from hook).

Last round : sl-st in the 1st st ;

sc ; 1 hdc ; 4 dc + picot ; 4 dc ; 1 hdc ; 1 sc) all in the next ch-6 sp ;
sl-st

*to* all around and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

as per yarn instructions.
