And today let’s work on our E is for…
We’ve got seven cute little motifs for E.
Today we'll work on three emojis, an elephant, an eagle, an egg and an eggplant.  What fun ! Come along, let’s see what we can do with this set.

Materials used : Today I’ve used our lovely Oswal 4-ply acrylic yarn with a 3.5 mm crochet hook
For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros ; Red rose metallic or  unbranded  knitting cotton as well as Vardhaman acrylic yarns

General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

Stitches used :
Starting slip knot : Here’s how you start with a slip knot.  https://youtu.be/lJcqsVcs8cw

[yo, draw through 2 lps] twice.  One dc made.

Leave it like a semi circle.  Turn.

Row 2 : 2 hdc in the 1st hdc ; hdc in the next hdc ; 2 hdc in the last hdc.  Turn.

Row 3 : 2 hdc in the 1st hdc ; hdc in the next 3 hdc ; 2 hdc in the last hdc.  Turn.

Row 8 - 10 : hdc in the 1st hdc and in each hdc till end.  Turn.

Half double crochet 2-tog : hdc 2-tog : [yo, insert hk in st or ch-sp, yo and pull up a lp] (3 lps on hk) ; insert hk in st or ch-sp, yo and pull up a lp (4 lps on hk) ; yo, draw through all 4 lps on hk.  One hdc 2-tog made.
Check the video tutorial at https://youtu.be/jdaXTr7Lcig

Row 11 : hdc 2-tog over in the 1st 2 hdc and in each hdc till the last 2 hdc ;
hdc 2-tog over the last 2 hdc.  Turn.

Row 12 : hdc 2-tog over in the 1st 2 hdc and in each hdc till the last 2 hdc ;
hdc 2-tog over the last 2 hdc.

Do not turn but work one sc in each st all around to neaten the edges.
Remember to work 2 sc on the top of the eggplant.
So you now have a neat oval eggplant ready.

Stalk :
We will now work the stalk of the eggplant on the top.
So go ahead and attach your stalk color yarn.
We will work the stalk and two sepal bits in one continuous movement ;

What is a chain stitch ? Here is an easy video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXx5ukBjKkY

ch 4 ; Turn  sl-st in the 2nd ch from hk ;
sc in the next 2 ch ; sl-st in the top of the eggplant ;

(we will work on the first sepal /leaf like attachment on the top of the vegetable) ;

{ch 3 + dc sl-st in the 3rd st on the side of the eggplant ;
ch 3, and sl-st in the 1st st on top of the eggplant} (one sepal done) ;
rep {to} once more for the 2nd sepal.
