SOAP DISPENSER COVER 1
APRON

I have made a soap dispenser cover before – a cute dress – and that was aeons back when I was not writing patterns and blogs were an unknown word.  My friends have been egging me for the covers so I thought I’d make a few and spread smiles while I am at it.
Come along .. let’s work on this together.

Thank you for joining me.
In case you have just joined me, know that you can access all of my earlier creations by checking under ‘categories’ on the right hand side of this blog under “Labels”.  Then, for your convenience, follow me here or on Facebook, You Tube, Pinterest, Twitter or Instagram. Materials used : Just a little bit of Oswal Cashmilon acrylic 4-ply yarn, with a 4 mm crochet hook.
You can work in knitting cotton too – I just had the coolest little bits of acrylic handy so am using up my little bits and bots.
You can make this project with any yarn and a hook that suits it.

Skill level : Easy

Stitches used :
Starting slip knot : Here’s how you start with a slip knot.  https://youtu.be/lJcqsVcs8cw

Starting slip knot 1 or the Sloppy Slip knot : This is a neat new way to start your work without a slip knot.  https://youtu.be/YfC7KmGpifs

Instructions using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern.  For your convenience there video tutorials through the blog too
Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

What did I do differently?
There is a swatch for gauge – so if you want to check that, and it works for you great – off you go to that link above.
It did not work for me so here’s what I did.

1.        Measure your bottle(s) and figure out what approx length and width you’d like.
2.      Start with as many fhdc (foundation half double crochet) stitches or chain as you’d need for the width of your bottle.
3.      Now if the length given by designer works for you, then work as many rows as indicated before decrease.
4.     For decrease, the designer has reduced twice.  See if that works for you.  Else reduce every row for the last 5 rows till you have as many stitches (width) that you need for the narrower top of your bottle.
