Materials used : Today I’ve used a little bit of our lovely Indian kamal kadai / kankri polyester silk embroidery (floss) yarn with a 1.3 mm crochet hook ; ready-made ear ring hooks (one pair minimum) ; beads ; connector rings ; glue to seal ends.
For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros or unbranded knitting cotton as well
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

Elephant motif pattern : Get this lovely free pattern at http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2014/10/e-is-for-elephant-crochet-elephant.html

To make this elephant motif into a tiny pendant, I tweaked the pattern just a bit to get it into a really tiny lil elepheeee

I followed the basic pattern idea, but moved each stitch down one size.
So what does that mean? Well, when the designer said work a dc, I worked a hdc.

For a hdc = sc ; sc = sl-st and sl-st = sl-st.
This gave me a really cute 2.5 cm x 2 cm lil elephant.  How did you go with yours?

The eye is a cute little piece of bling that shines with every movement.

I’ve used this adorable elephant motif before – attaching it onto a headband, baskets, a car seat cover, a door panel ‘toran’ and a pendant.

Check out these ideas at

The most important thing is to neatly weave in all ends.  Have fun making this in several colours.

Finishing :
To make this into a pair of ear rings : Attach yarn to the back of the elephant and attach that yarn to the hook of your ear ring.
OR neatly attach it to the centre of an ear ring hoop.

To make this into a pendant : Attach a little pendant hook onto the centre of the motif and slip it neatly into a necklace chain.
