BEADED
HOOP EAR RING 26
I’ve
made so many ear rings in the past few months, and I am thrilled to make yet
one more creation. This ear ring is a simple pattern – just with
a lot of beads.

General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.
International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.
; one pair of 1.75” ear ring hooks
per creation.
General yarn info : Today’s yarn is available only in
India.
For this project, the finer the yarn,
the cuter the end result – so go ahead and use any yarn with a suitable hook to
make this project to any size.
Difficulty level : Intermediate
Abbreviations used : (Using U.S terminology)
lp(s) : Loop(s) hk : Hook
dc : Double crochet sp : Space
sl-st : Slip stitch ch : Chain
st(s) : Stitch(es)
yo : Yarn Over
Single Crochet : Sc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (2 lps on hk); yo, draw through both lps. One sc made. Check out the video at
https://youtu.be/ghACqBpA-3k
Double Crochet : dc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk);
[yo, draw through 2 lps] twice. One dc made.
Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.
Instructions using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern. For your convenience there video tutorials through the blog too
Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.
You
can keep this patter as simple as you wish, be reducing the number of beads,
and therefore reducing the fussiness of work – but then of course, it also
reduces the pizzazz of your product.
Decisions..
decisions.. ;)
Depending
on the yarn thickness, you end up with a different product every time.. how
cool is that, right?
Start Round 1 : with a magic circle and 18 dc in it.
Join
with a sl-st to the 1st st.
In
the following round, we just work all round adding our beads… and attaching
this to our hoop.
Now
in case you are not using a hoop, you can work Row 2 and then attach an ear
ring hook to the top.
If
you are working with beads, either you string them in before you start or
string them along as you work.
Check
the top of this blog for useful links on how to work with beads.
You
can work a plain pattern, without adding the beads, and then go back with a
fine needle and thread adding the beads after you are done as well.
Row 2 :
dc + bead + attach to ear ring hoop in the 1st dc ; (ch 1, dc + bead
+ attach to the ear ring hoop in the next dc) ;
rep
(to) 7 times.
Fasten
off and weave in ends.
With
this pattern, you have the beautiful little motif attached to the hoop in 8
spaces at the bottom. It will tip over
if you are using thick yarn – so you must
stiffen it (using fabric stiffener or water insoluble glue from the back) OR
you will need to attach the top of the motif to the top of the ear ring hoop.
In
case you are using just an ear ring hook, then you work the Row 2 pattern
without attaching to the ear ring hoop, and then attaching the hook to the top
centre of the motif.
Finally,
the other thing you can do is work the Row 2 pattern all around. This way, you will have the motif attached to
the hoop all around and have a totally different looking end product.
Go
ahead, create something beautiful.. just remember that it is good for you (and
me) and for someone else to hear about where you got this pattern from.. so do
share my blog URL when you share your creation on social media.
Whats
the blog URL? The link that brought you to this page .. and the one that is
right on top of this page on the search bar of this page. Click and copy that link, and paste it when
you show off your creation – let one more person enjoy this free pattern …..
and pay it forward. Cheers.
