CUTE FLOWER HAIR CLIPS 3

Just a few days back I made a little puff flower hair clip – and at that time I thought about this cute one too.. Yet again, all you’ll need is a little bit of yarn, time and a little bit of patience , a pair of tic-tac hair clips and of course your crochet hook.  This is a super simple two round pattern that gives you really cute little flower motifs.
Come along, let’s work on a tiny cute flower motif that we will make into a hair clip today.  Find out how to make this into a little bit of jewelry too.
This is a great stash and stress buster!

Thank you for joining me.

Materials used : Today I’ve used a little Anchor Pearl thread, as well as our lovely Indian kankri / kamal kadai polyester silk yarn with a 1.3 mm crochet hook ; tic-tac clip base ; beads, if needed ; glue to seal ends.
For Indians : You could use Red ros ; Red rose metallic or   unbranded knitting cotton as well
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Difficulty level : Easy to Intermediate.

Stitches used :
Starting slip knot : Here’s how you start with a slip knot.  https://youtu.be/lJcqsVcs8cw

Starting slip knot 1 or the Sloppy Slip knot : This is a neat new way to start your work without a slip knot.  https://youtu.be/YfC7KmGpifs

Instructions using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern.  For your convenience there video tutorials through the blog too
Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

I’ve made lots of cute little ear rings (also from motifs, that can be converted into hair clips). For a quick one-stop-shop, check out these ideas at https://in.pinterest.com/shyamanivas/17-my-jewellery-made-by-me/

Magic circle : To refresh your skill, please view this easy video https://youtu.be/ISC39yOqWro

What is a slip stitch : Here is a neat video tutorial at https://youtu.be/weB3QNbA8Iw

Start Round 1 : with a magic circle and 6 sc in that circle.
Pull lightly to close
and join to the 1st st with a sl-st.

Double Crochet : dc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk);
[yo, draw through 2 lps] twice.  One dc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/xdnjB27zpYo

Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/wskv3iTjRx0

Round 2 :  (ch 3, 2 dc ; ch 3, all in the 1st sc) ;
*sl-st into the next sc ;
[ch 3 ; 2 dc ; ch 3, all in the same sc]* ;
rep *to* all around ;
Join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Fasten off and leave a tail for attachment.
And that’s it.. what a cute tiny little motif, right?

I've made this with various yarns.. combining two yarns.. embroidery floss.. and it all works out beautifully !

This cute motif is ready to be used.  Attach the motif to the top of a tic tac clip and add in a bead in the centre if desired.  One tic tac hair clip ready.. Go ahead and make the pair.. and then make it in all the colors of the rainbow.

This cute little motif will look stunning even on top of a headband or centre of a waist belt .. oh they will also look lovely as ‘buttons’ on lil girl’s dresses.  Add in a press button under this and you  have a unique button! Go figure!

Finishing :
To make this into a pair of ear rings : Attach yarn to the centre of the motif and attach that yarn to the hook of your ear ring.
OR neatly attach it to the centre of an ear ring hoop.
You can also make this into a ‘button’ ear ring – the one that has a press button pushed from the back of the ear – and for that you just attach this motif onto the front flat section of your ear ring holder and sew it down neatly.  It is a large motif so probably suitable this way only for adults.

To make this into a pendant : Attach a little pendant hook onto the centre of the motif and slip it neatly into a necklace chain.
