GERBERA DAISY MOTIF
All little girls like ‘hair things’ –anything to decorate the hair is a big YESSS .. and if it’s a flower motif that can be used in multiple ways, it’s a major yes… so come along and let’s see how we can spread a few smiles.
Materials used : Today I’ve used some of our lovely Indian Red rose knitting yarn with a 2.5 mm crochet hook
General yarn info : Today’s yarn is available only in India, but it’s a regular knitting cotton. The finer the yarn, the thinner each petal, and the cuter the end result – so go ahead and use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.
I’ve made a bunch of little flowers when I made a set of headbands for donation – and playing off those little flower ideas, I started making this pattern on my own.. struggling to write out the notes etc. As I finished my little motif, I showed it to my friend (also a crocheter) and she said what a cute gerbera.. and here I was thinking I’d made a dahlia flower !
Flower names aside, there were several patterns already written for this .. very similar to what I’ve done – so here goes.. enjoy these tutorials.
What I did was make a small loop at the back of the little flower so that I could ‘thread’ my metal headband into it. This also means that the little girl can use the same head band for other cute little motifs – I have made a butterfly before, that also had a loop at the back.. check my earlier blogs.
Using that same loop, you could pin it onto your dress and tad a! Instant lapel pin or belt pin or brooch.
So come along.. let’s create something cute and have fun spreading smiles.
