EASY FLORAL SPECTACLE LANYARD

This is a very practical item that can be blinged and cute-ned up.
One can call this an eye glass lanyard, eye glass cord or a crochet beaded eye glass chain.  Come along and let’s see what we can do with this cute project today.

Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern.  For your convenience there video tutorials through the blog too
Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

Before we head off to making our lanyard, here are a few ideas.
We start with a little holder that will attach onto your glass strap , then work the lanyard and finish with a second holder for the other side of your glasses.  We will therefore work in one continuous row.
You can buy a small clip to attach the lanyard to the strap.  If you do not find a clip or hook that fits the thickness of you strap, work a small chain loop that will fit around the top of your eye glass strap and then start with pattern.

You can decide to add beads.  If you decide to add beads, please check the top of this blog for a ‘how to work with beads’.

I worked the basic pattern and then added in the flowers – which I’ve made separately.  I was lucky to find a really good pattern blog for my flower motifs.

For the basic lanyard, here is what I’ve done before.
You can either do this, or just work a full plain chain lanyard and then add the flowers.  Go ahead, create and have a fun crochet day.

What is a chain stitch ? Here is an easy video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXx5ukBjKkY

Start by attaching your hook to the yarn.
Then work 25 ch.
If adding beads, add your bead now ;
Turn and work 25 ch.

This is basically what you will do.
Work a chain length, then add the bead, if you are using a bead, and you do this all the way till the length of your lanyard.
Attach the clip to the other end and neatly weave your ends in.

Play with the addition of beads and flower motifs to get a cute end result.
