Today we’re working on a cute little 3D flower which I have made several times before.  I found a you tube for this creation and here is the link for that at
So off you go to get the basic 3D flower done and then return here to see how we make this into a towel topper.

Once I was done with the basic flower, I attached a yarn to the same stitch we ended at.
(well, you could continue with the same color, but I wanted the flower to stand out, so used a different colored yarn for the holding bit)

There are two parts to this bit.  We need to attach the bangle to the back of the flower, so that you can slip the towel into this bangle, and you also need a length of yarn to hang this towel off from the wall or hook.

Either way you need to start with re-attaching your yarn.

Part 1 : The bangle attachment :
Hold the bangle at the back of the flower and attach it with stitches worked into the last round of stitches of the flower.  You can either crochet this in or use an embroidery needle.  Whatever works for you.
I crocheted it in.  I just passed the needle around the bangle, the last stitch on the round of flower from behind, and worked an sc around the bangle.  I worked this behind two of the petals.

There is no hard & fast rule for this bit.  It all depends on the size / thickness of the bangle, thickness of the yarn you have used etc.  So after you have joined the bangle behind two of the petals, I suggest you hold it up and see if the flower stays up and decide if you need to secure the bangle for one more petal.

Finally, if you do not have a bangle – do not stress or rush out to get one.  All you need to do is first attach the 2nd yarn all the way past 2 petals as given above. Then you run a length of chain that would suffice for the towel to go through and attach this to the 1st st.  Then just to make this a bit thicker and easier to hold your towel, I’d suggest you work hdc in each chain all around.

Once done, you move into Part 2 for the top holding bit.

Part 2 : For this bit, I have worked a length of chain and then also attached a smaller ring to the centre.  You do not need that ring – I just hand one handy.
So you just run a length of chain and if using a ring, work a few sc around the ring, and then work the same length of chain for the second side (as you have for the first side) and join with a sl-st to the 1st st (that you worked for Part 1)

Before you fasten off, please hold your creation up with the ring or centre of chain and see that it holds.

If you do not have a ring, or do not wish to use one, here’s another tweak.

Work as many chain as you want for the length, and then work 6 chain more ; Turn and sl-st into the 5th ch from hk and then continue with the same length of chain that you worked for the other side (before the 6 chain for the loop).
This loop of 6 chain is where you will hang your topper onto the nail on your bathroom or kitchen wall.

Secure your towel holder onto the wall and hang your towel through and smile.  This is a beautiful project – one that can not only be made in several colors, but using any yarn and any hook that’s suitable for that yarn.
