Materials used : Today I’ve used some local Indian Red Heart / Coats Doli thread with a 1.75 mm crochet hook
For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros ; Red rose metallic or  unbranded  knitting cotton as well

General yarn info : Today’s yarn is not specific for this pattern.
For this project, use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.
International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

This is the Simple Doily by Nancy Hearne at http://www.nancyhearne.com/drawingboard/simpledoily.htm

Please note that I start all my rounds with a ch 1 turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for a video tutorial on all the stitches needed to make this full project.
Finally please note that I take a lot of trouble trying to make my notes as easy as possible - so do go through all my detailed notes before you pick up your yarn.

So what did I do differently?

My project finished size = 10 cm

I thought that the popcorn stitch would make my wine glasses shaky – and changed that to a dc 3-tog.  To see how to work the dc 3-tog, check the video tutorial link at the top of this blog. Just fyi, the 3-dc cluster in the pattern sheet is this dc 3-tog
I worked the pattern till Round 7. At this point my doily was 10 cm, so I worked a final round to finish

In my last round I worked a ch-3 picot.
We will also work a hdc 3-tog and a picot on top of that.
For this, first work the hdc 3-tog and then work the picot stitch.  Easy enough, right?

How to work a picot stitch :
If the video does come on, go to  https://youtu.be/8s3zVaBcn4s

Half double crochet 3-tog : hdc 3-tog :
If the video does come on, go to https://youtu.be/E-WbOP531a4

Last round : (sc in the 1st dc ; sc + picot in the next dc ; sc in the next dc) ;
*ch 5, hdc 3-tog + picot over the next 3 dc ;
ch 5, [sc in the next dc ; sc + picot in the next dc ; sc in the next dc] ;
ch 2, sc in the next sc ;
ch 2, rep [to] once* ;
rep *to* all around and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

And with this beautiful round of picot all around, we finish our small 10 cm round doily.  Fasten off and weave in ends.
Block as per your yarn requirements.
