General yarn info : Today’s
yarn is not specific for this pattern.
For this project, use any yarn with a suitable hook
to make this project to any size.As
we’re working on a large table cloth, the thicker the yarn the faster your table
cover will grow but the thinner your yarn, the lacier and lighter your work.

How to work a picot stitch : Traditionally for a ch-3 picot, you
work (ch 3, sl-st in 3rd ch from hook).For a ch-5 picot, you will do (ch 5, sl-st in

Join
with a sl-st to the 1st st.

From

the same st or ch-sp

and
can you believe it but this is one pattern repeat done? Pretty quick huh?
Rep
Rounds 7 – 12 for as wide / round as you want your doily / table cloth.
Now
for the very last set, you will work Rounds 7 – 11 and then work Rounds 13 –
16.
Edited to add :
The
chart shows a ch-12 sp and the repeats of Rounds 7 – 12.I found that the ch-12 sp was too much after
the first repeat and as I wanted a table cover that was less frilly, I
changed the spacing to suit my requirement.
So
either you continue working the ch-12 sp and Rounds 7 & 8 as given, and
then in Round 9, work ch 2, sk 2 dc and then work the dc – so that you reduce
the spacing OR you work ch-8 in Round 7, and 8 dc in the ch-8 sp in Round 8 and
then work as given in Round 9.
Round 13 : sl-st into the 1st
“V”-st ; “V”-st in the same 1st “V”-st ;
(ch
5, “V”-st in the next “V”-st) ;
rep
(to) all around ;
ch
5, join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Round 14 :
sl-st into the 1st “V”-st ; “V”-st in the same 1st
“V”-st ;
(ch
4, sc in the next ch-5 sp ; ch 4, “V”-st in the next “V”-st) ;
rep
(to) all around ;
ch
4, join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Round 15 :
sl-st into the 1st “V”-st ; “V”-st in the same 1st
“V”-st ;
(ch
5, “V”-st in the next “V”-st) ;
rep
(to) all around ;
ch
5, join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
In
our last round, we will work a ch-3 picot.
I
have chosen to work a picot only in the centre of the “V”-st.
The
pattern shows 3 picots.. one each in the 2 legs of the “V”-st and one in the
centre space.Go and show your
creativity by working whichever combination you want.
We
will work (2 dc+ picot + 2 dc) as our Picot
“V”-st
Round 16 :
sl-st into the 1st “V”-st ; Picot “V”-st in the same 1st
“V”-st ;
(ch
4, sc in the next ch-5 sp ; ch 4, Picot “V”-st in the next “V”-st) ;
rep
(to) all around ;
ch
4, join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Fasten
off and weave in ends.
Block
as per yarn instructions.
