In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.
Get this free
pattern at http://www.yarnovations.com/mason-jar-soap-dispenser-with-crochet-owl-cozy/.
This pattern is
worked bottom up.
Before we start
off, there are a few measurements we need to take.
1.
Figure
out which bottle(s) or mug you are ‘dressing up’ and decide on approx length
you’d like.
2.
Work
the first two rounds and then fit it around your soap dispenser bottle for
size. If it is too tight, add a few sts.
3.
If
making this as a cup cozy, then after Round 2, work in rows. Do not attach at the end of each row, just
work side to side. This will leave an
opening along the end, which will allow your mug handle space to come
through.
4.
You
will need to attach the last two rows on top
- so measure the cup /mug handle and once you have a large enough space,
start joining and working in rounds OR attach a button on the last row to make
it into a round, after you have slipped the mug hug onto your mug. Remember
that you should not have your mug hug going all the way up to the top of the
mug – you need to leave space for the mouth during sipping.. no one wants to
sip over a mug hug or have bits of fibre in their mouth along with the liquid!
;)
5.
I
attached a button on the last row of my project.
6. I worked the pattern till it was a bit longer
– and methinks it looks great.
7. Weave in all ends and glue them all down.
After I
finished this, I found this cute pattern too
