SOAP DISPENSER COVER 12
MEN’S JACKET

I made one soap dispenser cover weeks back, and the orders and requests are just pouring in.  Today I’m going to try and make a men’s jacket / tuxedo coat.  Come along .. let’s work on this together.

Thank you for joining me.

This is a free blog - so do pay it forward for me.  Cheers.

Materials used : Just a little bit of All Seasons Ganga Acrowool acrylic yarn as well as some  Oswal Cashmilon acrylic 4-ply yarn, with a 3 mm crochet hook.

You can make this project with any yarn and a hook that suits it.

For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros ; Red rose metallic or   unbranded knitting cotton as well

Skill level : Intermediate

Stitches used :
Starting slip knot : Here’s how you start with a slip knot.  https://youtu.be/lJcqsVcs8cw

Starting slip knot 1 or the Sloppy Slip knot : This is a neat new way to start your work without a slip knot.  https://youtu.be/YfC7KmGpifs

Instructions using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern.  For your convenience there video tutorials through the blog too
Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

What did I do differently?
I worked the pattern as given and thankfully it worked for me.
However, I worked in hdc instead of sc all through though.

Magic circle : To refresh your skill, please view this easy video https://youtu.be/ISC39yOqWro

What is a slip stitch : Here is a neat video tutorial at https://youtu.be/weB3QNbA8Iw

Half Double Crochet : Hdc :  yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk) ;
yo, draw through all 3 lps.  One hdc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/sDiELJdB2Dg

Chainless start for Half Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 start, and this is what I do to start my row of hdc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/lWXpl1KdbZ8

I could have left the jacket as is and be done with it, but just decided to make a white ‘inner’

For the inner I worked the same start stitches but joined at the end, and worked one row of dc after that.  I then worked only for the front half , though after finishing think that I could have worked the pattern as given (with the decreases etc) to get a fitted inner ‘tee-shirt’ like finish.

I then attached my white inner to the jacket, then worked in the bow tie to finish it all off.

I love this so much, I think I’m gonna make one more of these.
