Materials used : Today I’ve used local unbranded knitting cotton yarn with a 3.5 mm crochet hook ; fabric glue to seal ends ; stitch markers ; embroidery needle ; sewing needle ; Mod Podge to stiffen motif
For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red rose ; 4-ply knitting cotton , or unbranded knitting cotton or White Rose or bamboo knitting cotton , Milk cotton ; Silk yarns as well
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.
International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn , Lily Sugar n' Cream cotton yarn

Please note that I start all rows with a ch 1 turning chain
for ease.

For this alphabet we start at the left hand side top and work our way down the curve of the alphabet
This alphabet is a bit complicated so visualise what we're doing here.
We start creating a number 3, then work up to create the right hand side of the alphabet "Chh". Without a break, we will turn at 90 degrees and work that long hanging portion of the Chh that comes down from the top of the alphabet and curves right. got it?
PART 1 :

Row 2 :
sc in the 1st st ; hdc + dc in the next st. Turn.
Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.

Row 3 :
dc + hdc in the 1st st ; sc in the next st ; sl-st in the next
st. Turn.

ch 1, sk the sl-st and the sc, sc in the next st ;

Rows 5 - 9 : Rep Rows 3 & 4
Row 10 :
sk sl-st, sc in all 3 sts. Turn.
We
will now work along the post of the stitches and then work on the lower part of
the alphabet.
Remember
that the first st at the corner is a sc.
We skip that and work only along the posts of the dc.
Row 11 :
ch 1, sk 1st sc ; 2 sl-st along the post of the 1st st ;
1
sc + 1 hdc along the post of the next st ;

dc in the post of the next st. Turn.
Row 12 :
dc in the 1st st ; hdc in the next st ; sc in the last st. Turn.
Row 13 :
sc in the 1st st ; hdc in the next st ; dc in the last st. Turn.
Rows 14 - 15 : Rep Rows 12 - 13
Row 16 :
dc in the 1st st ; hdc in the next st ; sc in the last st. Turn.
Rows 17 - 18 : sc in all 3 sts. Turn.
Row 19 :
sk the 1st st ; sc + hdc in the next st ; dc in the last st. Turn.
Row 20 :
sk the 1st st ; dc + hdc in the next st ; sc in the last st. Turn.
Rows 21 - 22 : Rep Rows 19 – 20
Rows 23 - 26 : sc in all 3 sts. Turn.
Row 27 :
sk the 1st 2 sts ; sc + hdc + dc all in the last st. Turn.
We
will now work along the post of just the last dc to get that top curve of the
alphabet.
Row 28 :
ch 1, sc + hdc on the dc ;
dc
in the post of the next st. Do not turn.
You do not turn to work back on the sts just made, but work 90 degrees & along the side of the last dc.
You now have a flattish top edge and you have curved down.
We will come back to this (28th) row to work the top bar of our alphabet later.
Row 29 :
ch 1, sc + hdc + dc along the post of the dc.
Turn.
Row 30 :
sk the 1st st ; sc + hdc in the next st ; dc in the last st. Turn.
Row 31 :
sk the 1st st ; dc + hdc in the next st ; sc in the last st. Turn.
Rows 32 - 33 : sc in all 3 sts. Turn.
Row 34 :
sk the 1st st ; sc + hdc in the next st ; dc in the last st. Turn.
Row 35 :
sk the 1st st ; dc + hdc in the next st ; sc in the last st. Turn.
Row 36 :
sk the 1st st ; sc + hdc in the next st ; dc in the last st. Turn.
Row 37 :
sk the 1st st ; dc + hdc in the next st ; sc in the last st. Turn.

Now when you are ready to block and harden the alphabet, remember how it looks and curve the bottom 'leg' the way you want it to look.
PART 2 :
We
need to just work that top bar.
For that
we will first attach our yarn on the 1st st (which is on the right
hand side, when your alphabet is facing the right side up), and work from there
on.
So
re-attach your yarn.
Start Row 1 : sc in the 1st 3 sts ; ch 12, Turn.
Row 2 :
sc in the 2nd ch from hk ;
sc in the next 10 ch ; sc in the next 3
sc ; 4 fsc. Turn.
Rows 3 - 4 : sc in all 16 sts. Turn.
Fasten
off and weave in ends.
Weave
in ends.
Block
as needed per yarn instructions.
How did I stiffen my alphabets?
For all my alphabets (whether English or Devnagari), I use Mod Podge (1 MP : 2 water) - so if doing a large batch its table spoons with the proportion or tea spoon depending on quantity needed.
For Indians : Fevicol or Fevicryl Fabric glue in similar proportions works as well.
