Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.
For today’s
halter neck soap dispenser cover, get the free pattern at http://www.linmaryknits.com/2016/04/barbie-crochet-summer-dress-and-hat.html?m=1
What did I do
differently?
1. This
pattern is worked top down. We start
with the halter bit that goes around the neck of your bottle, then work the
yoke and come down the skirt portion of the dress.
2. Measure your bottle(s) and figure out what
approx length and width you’d like.
3. Work the skirt portion for as long as you’d
like it.
For the top
halter part, you may need to make exactly what’s given for the first time that
you make it, as the designer has taken the trouble of working in a small bodice
and that pattern is fixed to the number of stitches you start with. So if that start number of stitches are too
much with the yarn/hook you choose, (for the first time, before you tweak away
as I did), you need to get the right hook and tension to get the sizing right
to fit around your bottle.
I made it with
white yarn (Oswal Cashmilon acrylic yarn) first and then in black (All Seasons
Hobby India Ganga Acrowool acrylic yarn).
With my second project I extended the back tail bit to make it like a
gown – and it actually looks really good.
Sadly, it was really difficult to photograph it properly and the photos
do not do the project justice. Happily
though the customer loved it – so I’m a happy clam.
Have a fun
creative day too.
