Instruction information Using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all rows with a ch 1 turning chain for ease.
Please also check the top of this blog for neat video tutorials of all stitches used in today’s pattern sheet.
Please go through the full instruction sheet before you start, so you get an idea of what we’re doing.  There is an option for the ending which you may miss out on if you do not read through.  Cheers.

Part 1 A : Covering the ring or bangle
For today’s easy flower towel ring holder / topper, we need to run a round of sc all around the ring / bangle first.  The flower motif is just one one side of your ring and so the covered ring works.
I used a bangle here instead of a readymade ring.
I chose to work a green colored yarn all around.
So let’s do this first.
To cover the ring, you start with a slip knot around the ring and then work sc all around.  There is no stitch count.  Just use any colored yarn and work as many sc as needed to cover the ring.
How do you work sc? Like you usually do but you work around the bangle and then grab your yarn to work the sc.

Single Crochet : Sc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (2 lps on hk); yo, draw through both lps.  One sc made.  Check out the video at https://youtu.be/ghACqBpA-3k

First stitch for Single Crochet : This is how I like to start my row of sc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/6pVYRfsf4_M

There are tiny leaves that pop out of the side and that’s in the same green as I’ve used to cover the ring.
I’ve made a two green leaves for our little flower motif and we work these leaves just as we finish covering our ring.

Part 1 B : The tiny green leaves
Each tiny leaf is made with a few chain stitches and you can make as many as you want.   Check the top of this blog for a video tutorial on how to work chain stitches if needed.
I have made two leaves – and in case you want to be more creative and add more, just ensure that you increase lengths of the chain to make it look interesting.

Leaf pattern :
For the first leaf :

What is a chain stitch ? Here is an easy video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXx5ukBjKkY

What is a slip stitch : Here is a neat video tutorial at https://youtu.be/weB3QNbA8Iw

Work 10 ch ;
sl-st in the st you started out from.

For the next leaf :
First sl-st into the next st on the ring ;
then work 12 ch ;
sl-st in the st you started out from.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

In case you want more leaves, ensure that your next leaf is either 14 ch or 8 ch long.  Got it?
In case you have used cotton yarn, ensure that you blog your end creation for best results.  You can then ‘shape’ your leaves whichever angle you wish.

Before you finish off and put away this yarn, please scroll down to Part 3B.
There are ideas there for leaves and finishing of the ring holder.

Part 2 : The flower motif
I have chosen to work a different color for the centre and petals.  I have used a gold for the centre and white for the petals.

Magic circle : To refresh your skill, please view this easy video https://youtu.be/ISC39yOqWro

Start Round 1 : with a magic circle and work 9 sc in it.
Join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Half Double Crochet : Hdc :  yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk) ;
yo, draw through all 3 lps.  One hdc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/sDiELJdB2Dg

Chainless start for Half Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 start, and this is what I do to start my row of hdc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/lWXpl1KdbZ8

Round 2 : sc in the 1st sc ;
(ch 3, sc in the next sc) ;
rep (to) all around till the last sc ;
ch 1 + hdc and join to the 1st hdc.
This brings you to the centre of that last ch-3 sp.
In case you are unable to do this ending or are confused, please just work ch 3, and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.  Just remember though, that to start the pattern, you need to sl-st into the 1st ch-3 sp.

Round 3 : sc in the 1st ch-3 sp ;
*(ch 3, sc in the same ch-3 sp) ;
ch 3, sc in the next ch-3 sp* ;
rep *to* all around till the last ch-3 sp ;
ch 1 + hdc and join to the 1st sc.
This brings you to the centre of that last ch-3 sp.

This is the petal round.  IN case you want to change colors for the petals, fasten off the earlier yarn and change yarn now.

Round 4: (ch 3 + dc + ch 3) all in the 1st ch 3 sp ;
*sl-st into the next ch-3 sp ;
rep (to) in the next ch-3 sp*;
rep *to* all around ;
join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Part 3 : Putting it all together
Once done with the flower and ring with the leaves, all you need to do is convert this into a ring holder.
This is in two parts.

Part 3A :
So first off, we need to attach our cute little flower motif to the bangle or ring that you will use to pass the towel through.
Now we need to attach this close to the leaves.  I have chosen to attach my flower to the left of the leaves.  Just hold the motif and see which point works.  Then using an embroidery needle, I have secured my flower motif to the ring.

Part 3B is making that long chain loop that you will use to hang your towel ring holder off the nail or hook on your wall.
For this, just work as many chain sts as you need to hang it.
I chose to work in the petal colored yarn and worked a length of about 45 chain and then sl-st to attach.

I feel that you could use the bangle yarn (green) for this long loop as well.  In case you decide to do that, then after you finish off with covering the ring, you could work this long length of chain for the attachment.  I would suggest that you slip a few stitches in the centre – say 8 – 10 sc (depending on how thick your yarn is – if thicker, skip less stitches in between) and then sl-st to join.

Now, in case you are doing this, then you need to fasten off here, and then re-attach your yarn to make the leaves – as I think the leaves coming right at the point where your holder goes up may just mess up this creation.
But here’s where your creativity comes in.
Make a leaf and see if this looks ok to you.

Please use the photograph as a guide.

Before you fasten off, please hold your creation up with the ring or centre of chain and see that it holds.

Secure your towel holder onto the wall and hang your towel through and smile.  This is a beautiful project – one that can not only be made in several colors, but using any yarn and any hook that’s suitable for that yarn.
Go ahead and make a few to gift to friends.  Remember to share the photos with me so I can share them on my Facebook page.
