We are still working on our cute little doilies - all about 10 cm each to be used as bases for wine glasses.

Materials used : Today I’ve used some local Indian Red Heart / Coats Doli thread with a 1.75 mm crochet hook ; fabric glue to seal ends
This yarn is not specific for this project.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.
International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.
Difficulty level : Easy to Intermediate

Double Crochet : dc : yo, insert
hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk);
[yo,
draw through 2 lps] twice. One dc

Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike
the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.
Abbreviations used : Using US terminology
sc : single crochet dc : Double crochet
ch : chain ch-sp : chain space
sp : space rep : Repeat
hk : hook lp (s) : loop(s)
yo : yarn over sl-st : slip stitch
dc
3-tog : Double crochet 3-together
Please note that I start all my rounds with a ch 1 turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for a video tutorial on all the stitches needed to make this full project.
Finally please note that I take a lot of trouble trying to make my notes as easy as possible - so do go through all my detailed notes before you pick up your yarn.
Now
this project does not have any written instructions so here are my notes for
what I did with this awesome creation.
My
project finished size
= 10 cm
Start Round 1 : with a magic circle and work 8 sc in it.
Join
with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Round 2 :
sc in the 1st sc ;
(ch
5, sc in the next sc) ;
rep
(to) till the last sc ;
ch
2, dc and join to the 1st sc.
You
are now in the center of the last ch-5 sp.
Round 3 :
sc in the 1st ch-5 sp ;
(ch
5, sc in the next ch-5 sp) ;
rep
(to) till the last ch-5 sp ;
ch
2, dc and join to the 1st sc.
You
are now in the center of the last ch-5 sp.
In
the following round we will work a dc 3-tog.
Please
check the top of this blog for a video tutorial if needed.
Round 4 :
dc 3-tog in the 1st ch-5 sp ;
(ch
1, dc 3-tog in the next ch-5 sp ;
ch
5, dc 3-tog in the same ch-5 sp) ;
rep
(to) till the last ch-5 sp ;
ch
2, dc and join to the top of the 1st dc 3-tog.
You
are now in the center of the last ch-5 sp.
Round 5 :

rep
*to* till the end and join to the 1st sc.
Round 6 :
sl-st into the 1st ch-5 sp and sc in the same ch-5 sp ;
*ch
3, sc in the next ch-5 sp ;
(11
dc in the next ch-7 sp ; sc in the next ch-5 sp)* ;
rep
*to* till the end and join to the 1st sc.
Round 7 :
sc in the 1st sc ;
*(ch
2, sk next 2 dc, sc in the next dc) ;
rep
(to) 2 times ;
[ch
2, sk next 2 dc, sc in the next sc] ;
ch 2, sc in the next sc* ;
rep
*to* till the end and join to the 1st sc.
In
our last round we will work a ch-3 picot.
We
will also work a “Long sc” which we will work over the ch-2 sp of Round 7 as
well as the ch-3 sp of Round 6 to ‘bind’ them both together and bring the pointed
ends of our doily closer together.
Now
that you get what we’re doing, let’s just call this our “Long sc stitch”
How to work a picot stitch : Traditionally for a ch-3 picot, you
work (ch 3, sl-st in 3rd ch from hook). For a ch-5 picot, you will do (ch 5, sl-st in
5th ch from hook).
Round 8 :
sl-st in the 1st ch-3 sp , 3 sc in the same ch-3 sp ;
*(sc
+ picot in the next sc ; 3 sc in the next ch-3 sp)
rep
(to) 2 times ;
[“Long
sc st” over the next ch-3 and ch-2 sps] ;
3
sc in the next ch-3 sp* ;
rep
*to* till the end and join to the 1st sc.
Fasten
off and weave in ends.
Block
as per your yarn requirements.
