DAHLIA DOILY

We are still working on our cute little doilies - all about 10 cm each to be used as bases for wine glasses.

Thank you for joining me.

Oh, and may I add that the fastest way to find any of my blogs is via Pinterest.

All my blogs can be printed.  Find the printer friendly (green) link at the bottom of this blog.  You can also hit Control P (or Command P for Mac) on your keyboard, and the blog will go directly to the connected printer.

Remember that you only print if absolutely essential.  Save paper – Save Our Earth.

Do remember to add my blog URL when you make and show off your creation.

Just copy the link on the search bar above - that's the blog URL.

To purchase this or similar yarn online, click here to buy your yarns online via Amazon.  While you will still pay the same, I may get paid by Amazon as well.

This is a free blog - so do pay it forward for me.  Cheers.

Materials used : Today I’ve used some local Indian Red Heart / Coats Doli thread with a 1.75 mm crochet hook ; fabric glue to seal ends

This yarn is not specific for this project.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros ; Red rose metallic or  unbranded  knitting cotton as well as Oswal or Vardhaman acrylic yarns

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Instruction information
Sweet Nothings Crochet free crochet pattern blog, photo detail of the Dahlia Doily,

Please note that I start all my rounds with a ch 1 turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for a video tutorial on all the stitches needed to make this full project.
Finally please note that I take a lot of trouble trying to make my notes as easy as possible - so do go through all my detailed notes before you pick up your yarn.

Now this project does not have any written instructions so here are my notes for what I did with this awesome creation.

My project finished size = 10 cm

Start Round 1 : with a magic circle and work 8 sc in it.
Join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Round 2 : sc in the 1st sc ;
(ch 5, sc in the next sc) ;
rep (to) till the last sc ;
ch 2, dc and join to the 1st sc.
You are now in the center of the last ch-5 sp.

Round 3 : sc in the 1st ch-5 sp ;
(ch 5, sc in the next ch-5 sp) ;
rep (to) till the last ch-5 sp ;
ch 2, dc and join to the 1st sc.
You are now in the center of the last ch-5 sp.

In the following round we will work a dc 3-tog.
Please check the top of this blog for a video tutorial if needed.
Round 4 : dc 3-tog in the 1st ch-5 sp ;
(ch 1, dc 3-tog in the next ch-5 sp ;
ch 5, dc 3-tog in the same ch-5 sp) ;
rep (to) till the last ch-5 sp ;
ch 2, dc and join to the top of the 1st dc 3-tog.
You are now in the center of the last ch-5 sp.

Round 5 : sc in the 1st ch-5 sp ;
*ch 5, sc in the next ch-1 sp between the two dc 3-tog ;
(ch 5, sc in the next ch-5 sp ; ch 7, sc in the same ch-5 sp)* ;
rep *to* till the end and join to the 1st sc.

Round 6 : sl-st into the 1st ch-5 sp and sc in the same ch-5 sp ;
*ch 3, sc in the next ch-5 sp ;
(11 dc in the next ch-7 sp ; sc in the next ch-5 sp)* ;
rep *to* till the end and join to the 1st sc.

Round 7 : sc in the 1st sc ;
*(ch 2, sk next 2 dc, sc in the next dc) ;
rep (to) 2 times ;
[ch 2, sk next 2 dc, sc in the next sc] ;
ch 2, sc in the next sc* ;
rep *to* till the end and join to the 1st sc.

In our last round we will work a ch-3 picot.
We will also work a “Long sc” which we will work over the ch-2 sp of Round 7 as well as the ch-3 sp of Round 6 to ‘bind’ them both together and bring the pointed ends of our doily closer together.
Now that you get what we’re doing, let’s just call this our “Long sc stitch”
How to work a picot stitch : Traditionally for a ch-3 picot, you work (ch 3, sl-st in 3rd ch from hook).  For a ch-5 picot, you will do (ch 5, sl-st in 5th ch from hook).
Here’s a great video https://youtu.be/8s3zVaBcn4s

Round 8 : sl-st in the 1st ch-3 sp , 3 sc in the same ch-3 sp ;
*(sc + picot in the next sc ; 3 sc in the next ch-3 sp)
rep (to) 2 times ;
[“Long sc st” over the next ch-3 and ch-2 sps] ;
3 sc in the next ch-3 sp* ;
rep *to* till the end and join to the 1st sc.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
Block as per your yarn requirements.
