Welcome to the Sweet Nothings Crochet blog for free crochet patterns with my original designs and creations. :)
Over the years, I've found that there are a lot of free charts available on the net, so as I make the project off that chart, I write down my notes and share them here on my blog. Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for stopping by.

PREEMIE CAPS 13 : BUBBLES - Orange Angry Bird
- Orange Angry Bird
back to the final (angry) bird in my series of preemie caps that I’ve recently
donated across three charities in Australia.
this blog I thought I’d make Bubbles, the Orange bird has been inspired by the
Jamaican Oriole, a beautiful bird.
is the last of this series. In case you
are just joining me and want the earlier ones, check under “Labels” on the
right side of this blog and look for “crochet headwear” or “crochet beanies”.Then follow me on Blogger or via Facebook for
more fun crochet creations.Cheers.
is the image I found of the whole series of birds – didn’t even know there were
so many of them!
and this is the full series that I've created..
may I, as usual, request you to please go through my notes for ideas on
what I’ve done. I’ve basically used stuff toy patterns to make my caps so with
this blog you get a cap and a stuff toy.
you for joining me in our fun creativity session today.
the little birds have eyes, a beak and head feathers – and for each of these
I’ve just worked with a 3.5mm crochet hook and tightened the stitches a
bit.I have not used any polyfill
stuffing anywhere as these caps are intended for preemies in the NICU.If working for a slightly older kid, then you
could use polyfill if you’d like.May I
suggest that you first fill your poly-fill into a stocking and then stuff – to
keep it non-allergic and super safe.
This is my stocking ball, just
for your info (though have not used it for any of my caps here)
have also not made tail feathers for any of them as my preemie babies are going
to be lying down and they may hurt the back of the head.If making yours for an older child, go crazy
and spread huge smiles.
of the angry birds have a slightly different shape, so come on along and see
what I’ve done with this cute range.
with Bubbles, we’ve made the whole series of the Angry birds!
Bubbles –Orange angry bird cap
have not been able to find a pattern for Bubbles.I worked my basic pattern with orange yarn.
the belly :
Bubbles’ belly is black, so I ended with a row of black hdc and then crab
stitch in black.
the beak :
I used Terence’s beak instructions.
the feathers :
I used the instructions from Chuck’s hair feathers, and made 2 orange and 2
black feathers for the top of the head.
