Materials used : Today I’ve used some (Indian) 4-ply acrylic yarn , with a 4 mm crochet hook ; rubber band ; fabric glue to seal ends

For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red rosRed rose metallic  or unbranded  knitting cotton as well

With today’s pattern remember you can make it to any size.  All that you need to start with is the rubber band that fits the pony tail you need to go around.
If you do not have multi colored / variegated yarn, you could hold 2 or 3 strands of yarn of different colors and get a beautiful speckled look.  The only thing is that you need to then work with slightly thinner yarns (2 or 3 ply) and the 4 or 4.5 mm hook.  Using 3 strands of 4-ply will make your scrunchy look too bulky. Once again, let your creativity flow and see what works for you.

In the photo below, I've used one strand each of green, yellow and black in 3-ply yarn with a 4.5 mm crochet hook.

Here is an easy video tutorial on how to work with elastic or a rubber band for our scrunchies.  In case this video does not come on, visit https://youtu.be/T5Qc3q2N0ds

Start Round 1 : with a slip knot around the elastic and work one sc in the elastic ;
(ch 3, sc in the elastic) ;
rep (to) as many times as you need to go all around the elastic and
cover it fully ;
ch 3 and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Now as this is an elastic creation, after having done as many (to) as you think you need, give your rubber band a slight stretch and see if you have any of the inner rubber band peeping through.  If you do, you’ve got to work a few more repeats.

Fasten off and weave in ends.  Remember to lightly glue down the end yarn.

Now isn’t this the easiest pattern ever?

Go ahead and use up all your scrap yarn now .. like I have.. and spread some smiles.. and do remember to show them to me too.
