Materials used : Today I’ve used a 4-ply acrylic baby soft yarn with a 4 mm crochet hook ; embroidery needlefabric glue to seal ends

This yarn is not specific for this project.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros ; Red rose metallic or  unbranded  knitting cotton as well as Oswal or Vardhaman acrylic yarns

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Abbreviations used :
sc : single crochet            dc : Double crochet

Stitches used : (Using US terminology)
Starting slip knot : Here’s how you start with a slip knot.  https://youtu.be/lJcqsVcs8cw

Starting slip knot 1 or the Sloppy Slip knot : This is a neat new way to start your work without a slip knot.  https://youtu.be/YfC7KmGpifs

What is a slip stitch : Here is a neat video tutorial at https://youtu.be/weB3QNbA8Iw

What is a chain stitch ? Here is an easy video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXx5ukBjKkY

Instructions using U.S terminology

For my burger granny square, I have used the basic pattern from https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/puppy-dog-granny-afghan-square to get my square to the size I needed.  I have changed it a bit to make the puppy face into a burger..so come along and check my notes before going to get this pattern.
As we're making this play food a mitered granny square, I've opted to make it un-stuffed and flat.

What I did with this pattern
1.        Work Rounds 1 to 4 in a shade of brown to make the burger bun base.
2.      I then changed to off-white, which I’ve used as my border colour.
3.      For the top round of the burger bun, I’ve worked Rounds 1 – 4 in the same shade of brown separately, and then attached it on after adding the ‘inside yummy stuff’  ;)
4.     For the burger patty, I worked Rounds 1 to 3 using a red-brown yarn.
5.      For the square cheese slice, I started with 12 fsc and then worked 12 rows of sc to get a nice square slice of cheese, all in yellow.
6.     For the bit of salad, using green : I started with 25 fsc.  Turn and work 1 dc in each fsc till end.  For the next row, I worked 3 dc in each dc till end.  This gives a ruffled strip.
7.      Now put all of this together and stitch it down. I basically stitched the pieces only along the centre, so the edges of each piece were all loose and it feels like they will fall out – just like a real burger! ;)

I hope you enjoy your burger and the little toddler that receives this square gets a cute blanket too.

Once you have made as many squares as you want for your blanket, use one of these joining methods for a neat join.

Whipstitch to join : Here’s a quick tutorial on how to join using the whipstitch at https://youtu.be/wZ-9LNzftMA

Invisible join : Here’s a quick tutorial on how to join using the embroidery needle and whipstitch to get an invisible join at https://youtu.be/a6XZQ6VzJFM
