SHELLY SASH

This is a cute quick belt in a lovely easy shell pattern.
I just blinged it a bit by throwing in a few pearl beads.

I tweaked the pattern just a little bit.
First I found beads that would fit in my yarn and threaded them in – check the top of this blog on how to work with beads.
Then I did a quick swatch to see how many inches I get with one pattern repeat – which was only to decide how many beads I needed to string in... mainly as I had a smaller number in this particular set and I did not want to run out.   The pattern instructions tell you the length and width of the belt, with the yarn used by the designer – so that’s a good marker for you too.

I made this belt with beads and then one without beads, but a nice shiny yarn.. and see how different they look ! What a great pattern !

To start I attached my belt buckle to one end of my yarn with 5 sc – passing the yarn through the belt buckle and then working the sc.

I worked a few rows of sc and then started the pattern.  I just worked 1 dc on  the sc at both ends, and worked the Shell stitch on the 3rd sc.

This worked perfectly for me.  When I had the waist length needed, I once again worked a plain set of stitches at the other end – so that the free end will go through the buckle without fidgetiness.

I just worked the same 5 sc on the other end of your belt, but this time, just a longer straight strip that will work through your buckle to hold your belt in place.
You don’t really need ‘holes’ as we’re working plain sc, and the belt buckle pin will easily slip through this to get it to fit.
