Come along .. let’s make this cute belt today.

Materials used : I have used an Indian polyester silk purse thread , with a 4 mm crochet hook beads ; pearls ; a belt buckle fabric glue to seal ends neatly

For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros or unbranded knitting cotton as well as Vardhaman acrylic yarns
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Skill level : Intermediate.

Stitches used :

For our belt, we start with adding our belt buckle and then work all the way to the end.
You will attach the buckle using whatever number of stitches we need for our first start row.  Then it is up to you to start the pattern right off or work a few rows in sc / hdc / dc to get a bit of a flat end.

The other end of our buckle has a ‘forked’ finish which , I think , looks lovely.  In case you do not want to add a belt buckle, you can make this a sash type belt and attach a fringe to the start end and attach a loop to the forked end.
If you are doing this, then you will just start the belt straight off and attach the tassels at the end.  For the loop, you will just add a few chain from one pointed end to the other pointed end of the last row, and then work sc back on each chain till end to make it durable.
I will not be giving you exact numbers here for this end loop bit – just go with the flow... experiment and create something unique.

Start : with 9 fsc.  Turn.
In case you are using the buckle – 9 loops around the buckle.  For sash, the start is 9 fsc.

Now the designer seems to have worked the full pattern in sc and in back loops only.  Once again I leave all this to your discretion and creativity.  I am writing it as charted, but you can use either sc, hdc or dc and work in back loops or decide not to – each change will give you a different end product.  I've made both with and without back loop work - see how lovely both look!

I’ve made one belt working in the back loops (in red yarn) and the gold one is the regular stitch – not back loops.. and I love both projects.  What about you? Which one do you prefer?

Single crochet back loop only (sc-blo) : Here is an easy video tutorial

Row 1 :  ch 3, sc-blo in the 1st 3 fsc ; sk next fsc ;
3 sc-blo in the next fsc ; sk next fsc ; sc-blo in the last 3 fsc.  Turn.

Row 2 :  ch 3, sk 1st st ; sc-blo in the next 3 sc ;
3 sc-blo in the next sc ; sc-blo in the next 3 sc ;
sk last st.  Turn.

Rep Row 2 till you have the desired length for your belt.

I think this is a fab easy chevron belt – don’t you agree ?

Hope you had fun creating this wonderful belt.
