SUPERB HOODIE

SUPERB HOODIE - free crochet pattern info from Sweet Nothings crochetback view
This is a really pretty pattern – and an interesting construction. I didn’t actually notice the “construction” till I got to working on the pattern.  What I really loved on seeing the pattern was how cool it looked.. light and lacy, just like the yarn I’m using

I do not have the yarn specified for this project, and could not get gauge with the yarn I am using but as I was determined to do this project anyway, using the yarn I have in hand – and these are my notes for what I have done

Thank you for joining me.

Materials usedToday I’ve used ~ 200 gms of this interesting acrylic Phildar Charly yarn with a 4 mm crochet hook ; fabric glue to seal ends ; Mod Podge to stiffen motif
Note : Mod Podge will not work / stiffen acrylic
For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros ; Red rose metallic or   unbranded  knitting cotton as well as Oswal or Vardhaman acrylic yarns
International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.  This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

This is not my pattern but this is my take (with tweaks) on an existing beautiful pattern.  For the complete pattern, please go here

So let’s take quick look at what we’re doing today.
1.        The designer has worked with this pattern starting from the armholes – then working one half of the back (across back or shoulder to shoulder portion) working across – and we work 2 parts of this.
2.      We then re-attach the yarn and working down the length of the project.  So for the back portion, you have these interesting patterns that form automatically (almost) and will be more so if you are using a variegated yarn or different colours of yarn like the designer has.
        3.      We then join the yarn at the armhole again and work down for the two fronts and work down the length once again.

Foundation double crochet (fdc) : This is a unique way of starting a project directly with a row of double crochet stitches.  Here is an easy video tutorial

So what did I do differently?
1.      I tried a gauge swatch first – but couldn’t match gauge.
2.      I started with a row of fdc and so started directly with 69 fdc.
3.      I then followed the instructions – (especially the guide chart at the bottom of the instructions) which I used as a template for measurements and to figure out where I was going.
4. I just made a small change in the back attachment - as you can see :)
5. and for my buttons, I worked a loop (when working that last finishing row around the two fronts and along the top of the hook) that went around my buttons.  Here's a video for attaching a button that you can use as a guide.  In case this video does not come on, visit https://youtu.be/oocVo-ZNIcM
