Materials used : Today I’ve used about 2 balls of GGH Marathon Sock yarn with a 3.5 mm crochet hook.

This yarn is not specific for this project.

You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

Difficulty level : Intermediate Skill level.

Pattern notes : (Using U.S Terminology)

Today, we’re creating a triangular shawl with a fantastic stretch.

This is a really lovely pattern using the C2C (corner to corner) idea in a triangle.

I worked the pattern as given all the way to the end. I fooled around with the border – mainly because I started running out of yarn and did not really want to compromise on the length.

The (original) border has three rows.. and I did not have yarn for three rows.. so I changed it just a bit to finish it with the yarn I had in hand. ;)

How to picot : Traditionally for a ch-3 picot, you work (ch 3, sl-st in 3^rd ch from hook). For a ch-5 picot, you will do (ch 5, sl-st in 5^th ch from hook). Here’s a great video https://youtu.be/8s3zVaBcn4s

So what I did was use the “V” stitch (as per pattern) for the first row and then I worked a 3 dc + picot for the next row (my last row), thus incorporating the (original) last two rows into one.

As I wanted the picot in the centre of the 3 dc that I worked in each “V”-st ch-sp, I worked (2 dc + picot + dc) in the ch-sp, ensuring that the picot is on top of the centre dc of that 3-dc set. Got it?

So while I do not wish to detract from Tamara’s beautiful shawl and edging, you have another option now ;)

The shawl realllllllly opens up on blocking – so do ensure you take the trouble to do that. The photo below is before blocking - see how dense it looks .. and see how light and lacy it is once blocked in the photos above.. so do take the trouble :)
