COFFEE BEAN COWL

Sweet Nothings Crochet free crochet pattern blog, pattern for a cowl, this blog has a video tutorial for the stitch detail
COFFEE BEAN COWL

This is a really simple cowl using a puff / bean-like stitch.  The end result, is a tiny bean like stitch which looked like a coffee bean to me – thanks to the yarn color ;)
Come along..let’s not waste any time and get right to it

This pattern has  a matching beanie, which is at   https://shyamanivas.blogspot.com/2021/06/coffee-bean-beanie.html

This yarn is not specific for this project.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros ; Red rose metallic or  unbranded  knitting cotton as well as Oswal or Vardhaman acrylic yarns

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Before we head off to the project, let’s get an idea of what we’re creating here today.
As always I request you to please go through all my notes before you pick up your hook.  There are several ideas here today…. Enjoy!

Today, we’re creating a cowl.  You could make a scarf with this pattern too.
You can make this project to any size – width or length – as desired.

In case the video does not automatically come on, here is a video tutorial for the stitch  https://youtu.be/Nt2niZiSOQ8

Start Row 1 : with fsc in an even number of stitches. Turn.

Row 2 : ch 1, sk 1st fsc, work a puff st in the next fsc ;
(sk the next fsc, work a puff st in the next fsc) ;
rep (to) till the last 2 fsc ;
sk the 2nd last fsc ; dc in the last fsc.  Turn

Row 3 : ch 1, work a puff st in the 1st ch-sp ;
(sk the next puff st, work a puff st in the next ch-sp) ;
rep (to) till the last puff st ;
sk that last puff st ; dc in the last st.  Turn

Easy enough, right?  And that’s our coffee bean stitch two rows done!
Continue on, repeating Row 3 till you have finished your yarn or the length you want for your scarf or cowl.

Finishing :
In case you are making this into a cowl, then join the two ends of your work, using one of the many joining methods given here.

Whipstitch to join :
 https://youtu.be/wZ-9LNzftMA
Single crochet to join : https://youtu.be/6FXoW_47_dI

In case you are making this a scarf, you may want to run a row of sc all the way down the end.  So work 1 sc in each puff st and 1 sc in each ch-sp all the way down, ensuring that you end with the same number of sts that you started with.

You could attach tassels to the end of your scarf.
Check out the two videos below for tassels

Have fun and do remember to share my blog post when you show off your creation.

It is sad that though my blogs are very popular and being used by so many, not many think of giving credit when you post your projects on social media.
There is a lot of work that goes into writing one of these patterns, so do pay it forward – good karma and all that blah

If you're visiting me here for the first time, and have liked the experience, do add me to your mailing list (for your convenience) , and all my future free patterns will come straight to your mail box.

I’d appreciate if you could credit my blog (and link the original pattern link) when you make your own creation.  Thanks.
