PENGUIN MOTIF EAR RING
You know I’ve been a little ear ring crazy for a bit, and when I chanced on this, I said wow! I am hoping to successfully convert this motif into jewelry.  Let’s see how many ways you can use it.

Materials used : Today I’ve used a combination of our lovely Indian Red ros knitting yarn with a 1.3 mm crochet hook ;  ready-made ear ring hooks (one pair minimum) ; beads ; pearls ; shells ; connector rings ; glue to seal ends.
For Indians : You could use Anchor ,  Red rose metallic ; or unbranded knitting cotton as well
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.
International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

As I was making these into ear rings, and wanted a slightly smaller motif, I just changed the stitch size while keeping to the same pattern as given.

So for each dc, I worked a hdc ; hdc = sc ; sc = sl-st and sl-st = sl-st.
This worked for me, and I have a cute motif that’s about 3 cm x 2.75 cm… just right for a pair of ear rings.

Finishing :
To make this into a pair of ear rings : Attach yarn to the top of the lil penguin head and attach that yarn to the hook of your ear ring.
OR neatly attach it to the centre of an ear ring hoop.

To make this into a pendant : Attach a little pendant hook onto the centre of the motif and slip it neatly into a necklace chain.

The most important thing is to neatly weave in all ends.  Have fun.
