SIMPLE FLOWER EAR RING

Simple Flower Ear Ring - free crochet pattern info from Sweet Nothings Crochet

This Simple Flower Ear ring has been made with (Indian) Red Rose cotton thread and a 1.3 mm crochet hook.  The pattern is very simple and does not need any specific thread.  Use any yarn/thread with a suitable hook to make this really cute project.  This is a quick two round pattern and you can literally churn out these little flowers by the dozens in a day.

Materials used : Today I’ve used a combination of our lovely Indian Red ros knitting yarn with a 1.3 mm crochet hook ;  ready-made ear ring hooks (one pair minimum) ; beads ; pearls ; shells ; connector rings ; glue to seal ends.
For Indians : You could use Anchor ,  Red rose metallic ; or unbranded knitting cotton as well

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.

We start with making a cute little flower motif and then transform that into an ear ring.
I've decided to work with a tiny little black centre and then off white petals.  Choose whatever colors you want for your cute little flower motif.

Magic circle :  https://youtu.be/ISC39yOqWro
Single Crochet : Sc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (2 lps on hk); yo, draw through both lps.  One sc made.  Check out the video at https://youtu.be/ghACqBpA-3k
First stitch for Single Crochet : This is how I like to start my row of sc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/6pVYRfsf4_M

How to change colors seamlessly : https://youtu.be/fRzSBja9jno

Start Round 1 : (With black for centre of flower) : with a magic circle and work 12 sc in that circle.  Fasten off black yarn ; attach off-white yarn for petals
Note : I decided on 12 petals so started with 12 sc.
If you want a different set of petals, that's the number you start with.

Half Double Crochet : Hdc :  yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk) ;

yo, draw through all 3 lps.  One hdc made.

Chainless start for Half Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 start, and this is what I do to start my row of hdc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/lWXpl1KdbZ8

Round 2 : (With flower petal color) : ch 11 ; turn and work your 1st hdc in the 2nd ch from hk, hdc in the next 8 ch till you reach the flower centre ;
*sl-st in the next sc ; ch 11 ;
turn and work your 1st hdc in the 2nd ch from hk, hdc in the next 8 ch till you reach the flower centre* ;
rep *to* all around ;
Join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

FINISHING :
To make this into a pair of ear rings : Attach the little ear ring hoop / piece to the top of one of the little petals.  Do stiffen the motif before doing this

To make this into a pendant : Attach a little pendant hook onto the centre of the motif and slip it neatly into a necklace chain.

To stiffen your little motif : I used a small amount of Mod Podge diluted with a few drops of water.  I coated my ear ring motif twice for good stiffness.  This means that I coated it, allowed it to dry and then coated it again.
For Indians : You can use Fevicol MR as well

Optional Idea : To add a little more zing to this, you could add in a pearl button onto the centre of your motif.  I'd suggest you stiffen your motif first and then add the flat pearl button (i.e. the one that looks like a semi-circle in 3D not the full round) which will sit flat and still allow the inner circle color to show through.

The most important thing is to neatly weave in all ends.  Have fun.
