This pattern was designed as a tree ornament.
Using
the same pattern, and just a small tweak, I’ve made it into a foot thong /
barefoot sandal.
Come along and let’s see how to do this.
As you are working on this pattern,
you will see that you can use this motif in several ways. You could probably make a blanket , or a bag
; or one can use it as a coaster ; or one can hang it as a tree ornament – just
bling it up a bit.
All these ideas are
given on the pattern sheet.
The designer already works in a loop on one of
her last rounds, so all I did was work that a little longer in such a way that
it loops around one of the toes.
For this, just place the ornament in the centre
of your foot and see how long a loop you’d like. Work the same number of chains for both feet.
For the side ties, I re-attached my yarn to the
triangular peak closest to the ankle and worked a long chain off that. I did this twice, i.e. one tie for both sides
around the ankle/foot. You work this
chain for as long as you’d like, depending on how high up the ankle / foot you’d
like to take it. Easy enough, right?
For the ends of your tie, there are two / three
ideas :
a) either
work in 3 to 4 dc in the 3rd ch from hk. So once you work a chain length that you
think is just right to go around your foot, work 3 or 4 dc in the 3rd
chain from end ;
b) or
you can pop in a bead to hold that end in
c) or
do both, I guess
Have fun creating something oh, so cute! .. and
I hope the recipient loves it too.
