This
an easy pouch made with granny squares.
So
with a three-round granny square, and just a few squares, you have a pouch done
up in a day.. and it’s not just a great gift, but a superb stash buster

Materials used : Today I’ve used our lovely (Indian) variegated 4-ply yarn as well as 3-ply acrylic
with a 4 mm crochet hook ; fabric glue to seal ends ; 4” wide metal clasp ; safety eyes ; stitch markers ; embroidery needle.International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.
I have held two yarns of the 3-ply yarns together for the pattern, and worked with just one 4-ply yarn.
The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

Instructions : (Using U.S terminology)
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement. This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

I
work a turning chain at the start of every round to get into that 1st
st easily.
Please check the top of this

Note:
We turn at the end of each round, so it is simpler to work a dc
directly into the next ch-sp.
Round 1 :
Start with a magic circle.

dc into magic circle ;

2 and join with sl-st to 1st st. Turn
Round 2 :
*3 dc into the ch-1 sp ;

1, 3 dc into the corner ch-2 sp ; 3 dc into same ch-2 sp ; ch 1*;

Round 3 :
3 dc in 1st ch-1 sp ;

Finishing :

Join 3 squares together to form one set.

One block of 3 squares forms the front of your pouch, one block of 3 forms the
back, and the last block of 3 squares form the flap.

Let’s finish the flap bit.
a)
Re-attach the yarn at the joint formed between the flap and the back block of 3
squares.
b)
Sc in each st (of the flap blocks) till you reach the corner ; 3 sc in corner
st ;
c)
Turn 90° and work along the bottom edge of your flap ;
d)
1 sc in each st till you reach the middle of this square.
e)
Here we will make a small loop for your button, so depending on the size of
your button, you need to make chs to fit.
f)
*sc in middle dc ; ch 3 (or no. of ch needed to fit your button) ; sc in same
dc ; sc in each st till you’re in the middle dc of the next small square*.
g)
Rep *to* twice till end of squares.
h)Sc
in each st till end of square, 3 sc in corner st ;
i)
turn 90° and work along the side of your block till you reach the top end
(opposite end from start) of your flap.
j)Sl-st
into last st.
4.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
5.
Attach buttons on the front part of your pouch and you’re done.
