Pretty Easy Clutch Purse - crochet pattern info from Sweet Nothings Crochetand I added an awesome "button" - cool eh?
This is one of the coolest clutch purses that I’ve seen.. and looks like it’s going to be among the easiest to write and make too.  Today I’ve used some of our Indian polyester purse yarn in cones , with a 4 mm crochet hook

Inspired by this photograph that seems to have no specific chart or information online, here are my notes as I create my clutch purse
the inspiration
Materials used : Today I’ve used some of our Indian polyester purse yarn in cones , with a 4 mm crochet hook ; fabric glue to seal ends ;  stitch markers ; embroidery needle.
For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros or unbranded knitting cotton as well
General yarn info : This polyester yarn is available only in India.
The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.
International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn ; Hobby Lobby's I-love-this-cotton ; Spotlight's 4-Seasons Marvel & Stallion 8-ply acrylic yarns.

Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.

Instructions Using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern.
Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.  This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

Quick analysis of what we’re going to do here today.
We start with fsc, my preferred stitch, and then work on both sides of this first foundation row all around till we get this oval shaped piece.
We then fold this over, line it, put in our zipper and the lovely button on top and we’ve got ourselves a lovely new clutch purse.

The beauty of this clutch purse is that you can use just about any stitch and get a different end product – so you can use an sc, hdc or dc.  I am using an hdc, as I love the shortish stubby nature of this stitch.
The start stitch (chainless dc start) for all rounds is a great way to start a row / round – and I’ve given you that link in case you are using the dc stitch.  If using hdc, then start with a ch 2 or  try to start with a chainless hdc, using the basic info for the chainless dc start.
Right.. so let’s get started.
Foundation Single Crochet : fsc :  https://youtu.be/mcT85fwh4mA
Start with fsc to equal about 1/3rds of the length of the final clutch size you’re looking for.
I started with an 8” long fsc.

Half Double Crochet : Hdc :  yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk) ;
yo, draw through all 3 lps.  One hdc made.

Chainless start for Half Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 start, and this is what I do to start my row of hdc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/lWXpl1KdbZ8

The video below shows how to turn a fsc chain into a round. It's the same principle with any starting stitch - so you can use this technique even with our hdc here.
