FALL COLORS BLANKET
This is a very beautiful crochet pattern for a blanket and it works up very quickly. The beauty of this pattern is that it is reversible and if you use more than one color, the pattern looks stunning. I have worked this pattern using local (Indian) 4-ply acrylic yarn with a 4.5 mm crochet hook, but you can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this creation.

Single Crochet : Sc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (2 lps on hk); yo, draw through both lps. One sc made. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/ghACqBpA-3k
First stitch for Single Crochet : This is how I like to start my row of sc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/6pVYRfsf4_M
I'd suggest you work with at least 2 colors to get the full effect of the pattern. I used the multi colored Vardhaman Fashionista yarn and then worked my border in Vardhaman black yarn
I have cut my yarn every second row and woven the yarn in as I started the row, but you could always carry your yarn up and work that way.
At the end, we are working a border and it will all be neatly hidden.
FINISHING :
I started with fsc using black yarn and then started the wattle stitch pattern.
As you can see, I worked a combination of multi colored and black yarn for a bit and then worked the body all in multi colored yarn.
For the border, I worked 3" in all solid black color when I finished the body of the pattern.
I then re-attached my yarn at the start row and worked the wattle stitch again till I had the same 3" border width as I had for the top.
I then turned my work sideways and worked sc all along the edge for the left hand side of the blanket. Neatly space the stitches along the side remembering to keep the stitch count of multiples of 3 + 2 for the side as well. Make a note of how many stitches you work on one side and repeat that for the other side too. I then worked the wattle stitch all the way for both sides from top to bottom and fastened off, weaving ends in neatly to finish.
2) Now instead of this finish, you could also work a simple sc , hdc or dc finish
For this you could either work a round of sts just for the last row and then finish off the border using the stitch of your choice, or you could work a round of sc , hdc or dc all around. If you choose to work all around, remember to work 3 sts in each corner stitch for easy turning. In this case, you will then continue to work one st in each st all around, ensuring you work 3 sts in the centre of the corner 3-set st for every round.
In case you work as I have for the wattle stitch, you just finish the top and bottom first and then work along the sides using whichever stitch you want for your finish.
3) You could also work the simple finish given above (in #2 )and then end with a row of picot sts.
How to work a picot stitch : Traditionally for a ch-3 picot, you work (ch 3, sl-st in 3rd ch from hook). For a ch-5 picot, you will do (ch 5, sl-st in 5th ch from hook).
For this, I'd work a picot in every 3rd st. But if you so decide, please count the sts on the top and see if you have sts in multiples of 3 for even-ness.
If you have sts in multiples of 2, then work in every alternate st.
Say you have multiples of 3 along the sides and multiples of 2 along the top and bottom, work the picot accordingly.
4) Rather than fuss around with calculations, an easier finish would be the crab stitch or reverse single crochet st
You can work as many rounds of the simple finish first and in the last round, work this reverse single crochet stitch.
As you work around the corners, I'd work a crab stitch ; ch 1, crab stitch in the chain space for a neat flat finish.
Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure you will love working this project and it will be fab.
I am sure you enjoyed this!I know I did.
