For Indians : You can use
Vardhaman or Laura knitting cotton.
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size. Using chunky yarn just means that the project zooms ahead that much faster. So if you want a thicker yarn, just use a few strands together.
but I think you could also use
Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10,
DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft,
Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn
You may just have to tweak the gauge a bit.
Stitches used : using U.S terminology
Half Double Crochet : Hdc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk) ;
yo, draw through all 3 lps. One hdc made.

Chainless start for Half Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 start, and this is what I do to start my row of hdc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/lWXpl1KdbZ8 Here is a sizing chart for general head sizing :
I made loads of this pattern for a local charity and they loved it.
While the designer has given different yarns to be used for the different sizes, it did not work for me - so I have taken a look at some of these charts here , here & here to help with foot sizing.
I have made this pattern several times.. made loads for a charity in different sizes and then got this order for a 6-9 month pair. So I worked to adapt the pattern yet again.
This time I have worked my pattern all in one color.
To finish my booties, I thought I'd add a row of holes where I could thread in a ribbon.
So before after I finished Part 1, and had to attach Part 2 (for growing the height of the bootie), I first worked a row of holes , this is after attaching that back portion.
For this I worked hdc in the 1st 1 sts ; (ch 1, sk next st, hdc in the next 2 sts) ;
rep (to) all around and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
For the tie, I decided to make one with my yarn.
I wanted to ensure it does not slide through so I started with a 3-petalled flower (or clover?)
Half Double Crochet : Hdc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk) ;
yo, draw through all 3 lps. One hdc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/sDiELJdB2Dg
Start : with a magic circle ;
(work 1 sc + 2 hdc in the same magic circle) ;
rep (to) 2 more times :
sc and join to the 1st st with a sl-st.
Pull tight to close the hole.
The tiny 3-petalled flower or clover finished.
I then started on the tie lace
Foundation Single Crochet : fsc : https://youtu.be/mcT85fwh4mA
I worked a row of fsc for the length I wanted for my tie straight from the 3-petalled flower / clover just made.
Once I had the length I wanted for my tie, I worked the same clover pattern from above, but instead of magic circle I worked it in the 2nd last fsc from end.
So turn back and work all that pattern detail at the end.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
One tie finished.
Work the same pattern for the 2nd tie.
I made this into a set - of a blanket and a matching jacket. So if you match colors, this makes a very cute layette
