TIC TAC CLIPS FOR CHARITY
I am thrilled to be writing this blog once
again, as all the products I’ve made here are going to a charity.
I am making headwear for a local girls’ home –
to give the girls something new for Diwali.
I thank my good friends +Prabha and +Anuradha for setting me on this path. Anuradha’s mum has been sewing dresses for
these young girls for years and I am honoured to be adding a little bit to that
gift.
Thank you for joining me.
In case you have just joined me, know that you can access all of my earlier creations by checking under ‘categories’ on the right hand side of this blog under “Labels”. Then, for your convenience, follow me here or on Facebook, You Tube, Pinterest, Twitter or Instagram.

Oh, and may I add that the fastest way to find any of my blogs is via Pinterest.
All my blogs can be printed. Find the printer friendly (green) link at the bottom of this blog. You can also hit Control P (or Command P for Mac) on your keyboard, and the blog will go directly to the connected printer.
Remember that you only print if absolutely essential. Save paper – Save Our Earth.
Do remember to add my blog URL when you make and show off your creation.
Just copy the link on the search bar above - that's the blog URL.
To purchase this or similar yarn online, click here to buy your yarns online via Amazon. While you will still pay the same, I may get paid by Amazon as well.
This is a free blog - so do pay it forward for me. Cheers.
Thanks for joining me once again as we work on
and discover these patterns together. Most are free patterns and these notes
are only for any differences (if any) that I’ve made in the pattern, as well as
to give an estimate of the size that I’ve achieved (for those of us using
Indian yarns).
Materials used : Today I’ve used our lovely Indian Oswal Cashmilon 4-ply acrylic yarn with a 4 mm crochet hook
In general : Use any yarn with a suitable hook to make these projects. The finer the yarn, the tinier the project.
International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used , I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.
Single Crochet : Sc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (2 lps on hk); yo, draw through both lps. One sc made. Check out the video at
https://youtu.be/ghACqBpA-3k
Half Double Crochet : Hdc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk) ;
yo, draw through all 3 lps. One hdc made.
Chainless start for Half Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 start, and this is what I do to start my row of hdc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/lWXpl1KdbZ8
Double Crochet : dc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk);
[yo, draw through 2 lps] twice. One dc made.
Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.
Here is a sizing chart for general head sizing :
Abbreviations used : (Using U.S terminology)
lp(s) : Loop(s) sc : Single crochet
dc : Double crochet sp : Space
sl-st : Slip stitch ch : Chain
st(s) : Stitch(es) hk : Hook

Instructions using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern.
Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In this blog, let’s work on a set of small items
that can be easily added on to tic tac clips.. or hair clips.
Clip # 1
It’s a reallllly simple pattern, and oh my gosh!
Totally ingenious ! A MUST DO!!
and I was inspired by this lovely photograph
I used our local Oswal Cashmilon 4 ply acrylic
with a 3.5 mm crochet hook.
Size : 1.6”
And using our local Vardhaman Millennium 4 ply acrylic
with a 3.5 mm crochet hook, Size was ~ 2”
Clip # 2
I saw a link for a cloche, but I just took the cute little daisy from this link
and I was inspired by this lovely photograph
I used our local Oswal Cashmilon 4 ply acrylic
with a 3.5 mm crochet hook.
Size : ~ 4”
Clip # 3 - Rose # 1
The only difference I’ve made to this cute
pattern is in the number of stitches I have started with. I’ve made this rose
to be used over the little tic-tac hair clip, and the yarn thickness then defines
the size that we can use.
This pattern is in multiples of 2 + 1
. So instead of the start chain of 51, I
started with a ch of 21. I then followed
the superb pattern per the designer.
Clip # 4 – Button Rose
Size : ~1.5"
Clip # 5 - Puff Flower
Size : 2.2"
This is a cute
flower and is from this free patterns at
Please note that this pattern uses U.K
terminology but it does mention this at the top as well.
Clip # 6
Size : 2"
Clip # 7
Size : 2.2"
I was unable to
find a pattern or link for this one
.. so this is what I’ve done.
Start with a
magic circle and 12 sc in that circle. Pull lightly to close.
Round 1 : ch 4, sl-st
in the next sc ;
(sl-st into the next sc ; ch 4, sl-st into the
next sc) ;
rep (to) all around and join with a sl-st to the
1st st.
Round 2 : sl-st in
the next ch-4 sp ,
(2 sc , 2 hdc , 2 dc , 2 hdc , 2 sc , sl-st) all in the
same ch-4 sp ;
*sl-st into the next ch-4 sp ; rep (to) in the same
ch-4 sp* ;
rep *to* all around and join with a sl-st to the
1st st.
Note : Depending on how thick your yarn is, vary the number of stitches. If using thicker yarn, work only (1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, sl-st) in each ch-sp all around.
Fasten off and leave a long tail to join to the
tic-tac pin.
Clip # 8
Size : 2.7"

pattern from above, with a small tweak….
Start with a
magic circle and 12 sc in that circle. Pull lightly to close.
Round 1 : ch 6, sl-st
in the next sc ;
(sl-st into the next sc ; ch 6, sl-st into the
next sc) ;

1st st.
Round 2 : sl-st in
the next ch-6 sp ,
(sc , hdc , 4 dc , hdc , sc , sl-st) all in the
same ch-6 sp ;
*sl-st into the next ch-6 sp ; rep (to) in the same
ch-6 sp* ;
rep *to* all around and join with a sl-st to the
1st st.
Fasten off and leave a long tail to join to the
tic-tac pin
Clip # 9
Size : 2"
I was unable to
find a pattern or link for this one.. so this is what I’ve done.
For this, you
will work two little flowers in two contrasting colours and then attach them
one to the other... and I was inspired by this lovely photograph
Start Flower 1 : (Color 1) : with a magic circle and 6 sc in that
circle. Pull lightly to close.
Round 1 : [ch 2, 2
hdc ; ch 2] all in the 1st fsc ;
(sl-st into the next fsc ; rep [to] once) ;
rep (to) all around and join with a sl-st to the
1st st.
Fasten off Colour 1, leaving a tail to attach.
Start Flower 2 : (Color 2) : with a magic circle and 6 sc in that
circle. Pull lightly to close.
Round 1 : [ch 2, 3 dc
; ch 2] all in the 1st fsc ;
(sl-st into the next fsc ; rep [to] once) ;
rep (to) all around and join with a sl-st to the
1st st.
Fasten off Colour 2, leaving a tail to attach.
Finishing :
Holding both flowers together at their centres, join them up such that the
little flower is in the front. You could
use a little floral button or a little pearl to hold them in place, or work in
a French knot in the centre.
Attach the flower to the tic tac pin and see a
little girl smile J
