GRANNY SQUARE 5 for Hundred Hands
The split granny square pattern

This is my fifth blog for squares going to The Blankets of Love program by A Hundred Hands in India.

The yarn for this full set of squares has been gifted to me by my lovely friend, Nazneen.  I donate these squares in her name, as she is unable to make the squares herself.  Thank you all for joining me in spreading smiles.

Remember that you only print if absolutely essential.  Save paper – Save Our Earth.

Do remember to add my blog URL when you make and show off your creation.

Just copy the link on the search bar above - that's the blog URL.

To purchase this or similar yarn online, click here to buy your yarns online via Amazon.  While you will still pay the same, I may get paid by Amazon as well.

This is a free blog - so do pay it forward for me.  Cheers.

Materials used : Today I’ve used Indian Vardhaman DK/ 4-ply acrylic with a 4.5 mm
crochet hook ; fabric glue to seal ends

This yarn is not specific for this project.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros ; Red rose metallic or  unbranded  knitting cotton as well as Oswal acrylic yarns

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Skill level : Advanced
Size made : 8” x 8”

Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.

For today’s square, I have chosen to use the pattern at https://www.creativecrochetworkshop.com/2017/01/split-granny-square/

The beauty of this pattern is enhanced when you use different colors of yarn.
Do check out these easy video tutorials on working with different colors of yarn

How to change colors seamlessly : https://youtu.be/fRzSBja9jno
How to carry your yarn when using two colors : https://youtu.be/NuascBU3pxQ

However, as you can see, it looks as great when you are working with single colors as well :)

Once you have made as many squares as you want for your blanket, use one of these joining methods for a neat join.
