I was gifted one ball of this really lovely Alize
Bodrum linen yarn that I’ve just been itching to try out… and this cute little
collar seems to be an ideal pattern for it .

Materials used : Today I’ve used the interesting Alize Bodrum crochet knitting
cotton /linen yarn with a 3 mm crochet hook.
For Indians : You could use our Indian Anchor, Red rose or Shilpa knitting
cotton.

Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement. This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.
So how are we working this
yoke?
We start with a fsc chain and
work our way down to the pineapple ; working one pineapple at a time. Once we finish the whole row of pineapples, we
come back to this fsc chain and work a small border around the neck section.
Our first fsc chain will be the
part that goes around the top-most part of your yoke neckline.
Excited ? Let’s start.
Part 1 :
Start : with fsc in
multiples of 16.
Row 1 : sc in the 1st
fsc ; *ch 5, sk next 3 fsc, sc in the next fsc* ;
rep *to* till end. Turn.
In the following row, we’ll use
a “V”-st which is (dc ; ch 2, dc) all in the same st or ch-sp.
Row 2 : 2 dc in the 1st
sc ;
*ch 1, sc in the next ch-5
sp ch 1, “V”-st in the next sc* ;
rep *to* till the last sc ; 2
dc in that last sc. Turn.
Row 3 : sc in 1st
dc ;
*ch 5, sk next 2 dc and sc, sc

In the following row, we’ll use
a Shell-st which is (2 dc ; ch 2, 2 dc) all in the same st or ch-sp.

one pineapple at a time, till the end.
We will then come back to this point and re-attach our yarn for the next
and each pineapple till the end.
Row 11 : dc in 1st dc ; Shell-st in the Shell-st ;
ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in
the next ch-3 sp ; (ch 3, sc in the next ch-3 sp) ;
rep (to) once ; [ch 3, Shell-st
in the next Shell-st]. Turn.
So just so we get a visual of
what we’re going to do.
a) We’re going to now work all the way to the tip of this
pineapple and finish this off
b) We will then come back to the Shell-st to the left of
the one you’ve just finished off at as that’s the shell-st you’d use for the
next pineapple. So remember this third
Shell-st from the end.
Row 12 : dc in 1st
dc ; Shell-st in the Shell-st ;
ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in the next ch-3 sp ;
(ch 3, sc in the next ch-3 sp)
; [ch 3, Shell-st in the next Shell-st].
Turn.
Row 13 : dc in 1st
dc ; Shell-st in the Shell-st ; sk both ch-3 sps and sc,
[ch 3, Shell-st in the next
Shell-st]. Turn.
Row 14 : dc in 1st
dc ; 2 dc in the Shell-st ; 2 dc in the next Shell-st. Turn.
And as you can see, we have
finished one pineapple from the end. So
we will basically be completing each pineapple like this, one at a time.
Just so we can be sure of how
to get going, I’ll write out instructions for re-attaching and working the next
pineapple.
Re-attach your yarn at the next
Shell-st (as we’re working the 2nd pineapple, this will be the third
Shell-st from end)
Row 12A : Shell-st in the
Shell-st ; ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp, sc in the next ch-3 sp ;
(ch 3, sc in the next ch-3 sp)
; [ch 3, Shell-st in the next Shell-st].
Turn.
Row 13A : Shell-st in the
Shell-st ; sk both ch-3 sps and sc,
[ch 3, Shell-st in the next
Shell-st]. Turn.
Row 14A : 2 dc in the
Shell-st ; 2 dc in the next Shell-st.
Turn.
Complete all your pineapples by
repeating Rows 12A – 14A, ensuring you re-attach your yarn at the right
Shell-st each time.
Once done, you are at the other
end of the row of finished pineapples.
We will now continue at the
bottom of that fsc chain.
Border Row 1 : sc in the 1st
fsc ; *ch 5, sk next 3 fsc, sc in the next fsc* ;
rep *to* till end. Turn.
In the following row, we’ll use
a “V”-st again, which is (dc ; ch 2, dc) all in the same st or ch-sp.
Border Row 2 : 2 dc in the 1st
sc ;
*ch 1, sc in the next ch-5
sp ch 1, “V”-st in the next sc* ;
rep *to* till the last sc ; 2
dc in that last sc. Turn.
Border Row 3 : sc in 1st
dc ;
*ch 3, sk next 2 dc and sc, sc
in the next ch-2 sp* ;
rep *to* till the last sc ; sc in that last sc. Turn.
Border Row 4 : sc in 1st
dc ;
*ch 3, sk next 2 dc and sc, sc

We will now work all around the
pineapple ends with a set of picots.
I’ve used the ch-3 picot, which
is (ch 3, sl-st in the 1st ch from end).
Finishing :
We’re at the corner of our
border now. So let’s start with our
decorative picots all around. I am going
to try and put this down in words, but basically, you could just go ahead and
space your picots with ch-3 sps in between , evenly all around this end and the
pineapples all around and be done too.
So starting at the end, work a
picot in the corner ; (ch 1, picot ; ch 1, sc in the next ch-3 sp) rep (to) till the end ;
<work picot ; ch 1, dc in the end of the next corner st> ; rep < to > till you
reach the 1st Shell-st on the side ;
Starting at the end of that
last Shell-st, work a picot at that corner ;
ch 3 and sc in the corner of
the next Shell-st ;
*{ch 3, picot in the corner of
the next Shell-st ; ch 3, sc in the corner of the next Shell-st}* ; continue
{to} till you’re right at the top 2 dcs ;
[picot at the corner of the 2
dc ; ch 3, picot in the space between the 2 dc-sets on top ;
ch 3, picot in the corner of
the 2 dc] ;
rep {to} the point where you’ve
re-attached yarn* ;
rep *to* for each pineapple
till end ; working all the way down to the side of the pineapple till the fsc

you reach the place you’ve started.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
And can you believe how
beautiful this collar is !
Final Finishing &
Tidy - Up :
Our finishing here is just weaving
in and tidying up of all those loose ends. Ensure you glue it all down, as the
worst thing is to have a little bit of thread peeping through where its not
supposed to be and ruining all your hard work!
And that’s done.. yet another
project brilliantly executed !
