10 TIC TAC CLIPS FOR CHARITY

Sweet Nothings Crochet 10 tic tac clips for charitylots of colorful clips all of which have been made for charity
I am thrilled to be writing this blog once again, as all the products I’ve made here are going to a charity.
I am making headwear for a local girls’ home – to give the girls something new for Diwali.

I thank my good friends Prabha and Anuradha for setting me on this path.  Anuradha’s mum has been sewing dresses for these young girls for years and I am honoured to be adding a little bit to that gift.

Thank you for joining me.

In case you have just joined me, know that you can access all of my earlier creations by checking under ‘categories’ on the right hand side of this blog under “Labels”.  Then, for your convenience, follow me here or on Facebook, You Tube, Pinterest, Twitter or Instagram.

Oh, and may I add that the fastest way to find any of my blogs is via Pinterest and for more headwear patterns come here.

All my blogs can be printed.  Find the printer friendly (green) link at the bottom of this blog.  You can also hit Control P (or Command P for Mac) on your keyboard, and the blog will go directly to the connected printer.

Remember that you only print if absolutely essential.  Save paper – Save Our Earth.

Do remember to add my blog URL when you make and show off your creation.

Just copy the link on the search bar above - that's the blog URL.

To purchase this or similar yarn online, click here to buy your yarns online via Amazon.  While you will still pay the same, I may get paid by Amazon as well.

This is a free blog - so do pay it forward for me.  Cheers.

Thanks for joining me once again as we work on and discover these patterns together. Most are free patterns and these notes are only for any differences (if any) that I’ve made in the pattern, as well as to give an estimate of the size that I’ve achieved (for those of us using Indian yarns).

Materials used :  Today I’ve used our lovely Indian Oswal Cashmilon 4-ply acrylic yarn with a 4 mm crochet hook
You also need a tic-tac hair clip or a hair barrette ; headband or rubber band ; or tic-tac clip ; fabric glue ; embroidery needle to attach your little motif.
In general : Use any yarn with a suitable hook to make these projects. The finer the yarn, the tinier the project.
For Indians : You can use Red Rose knitting cotton or Red Rose metallic cotton as well as Vardhaman acrylic yarns
International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used , I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

In this blog, let’s work on a set of small items that can be easily added on to tic tac clips.. or hair clips.
Clip # 1

For the cute little bow, check this link

It’s a reallllly simple pattern, and oh my gosh! Totally ingenious ! A MUST DO!!
and I was inspired by this lovely photograph

I used our local Oswal Cashmilon 4 ply acrylic with a 3.5 mm crochet hook.
Size : 1.6”
And using our local Vardhaman Millennium 4 ply acrylic with a 3.5 mm crochet hook, Size was ~ 2”
Clip # 2

and I was inspired by this lovely photograph and the pattern is here
I used our local Oswal Cashmilon 4 ply acrylic with a 3.5 mm crochet hook.
Size : ~ 4”
Clip # 3 - Rose  # 1
a rose flower like motif in shades of pinkfour rose flower motifs in different shades of pink and red
 I’m using the free patterns here                   and this is the inspiration

The only difference I’ve made to this cute pattern is in the number of stitches I have started with. I’ve made this rose to be used over the little tic-tac hair clip, and the yarn thickness then defines the size that we can use.

This pattern is in multiples of 2 + 1 .  So instead of the start chain of 51, I started with a ch of 21.  I then followed the superb pattern per the designer.

Clip # 4 – Button Rose

I was unable to find a pattern or link for this one.. so this is what I’ve done.
For this, you will work two little flowers in two contrasting colours and then attach them one to the other... and I was inspired by this lovely photograph

this is the inspiration photograph
Start Flower 1 : (Color 1) : with a magic circle and 6 sc in that circle. Pull lightly to close.

Round 1 : [ch 2, 2 hdc ; ch 2] all in the 1st fsc ;
(sl-st into the next fsc ; rep [to] once) ;
rep (to) all around and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Fasten off Colour 1, leaving a tail to attach.

Start Flower 2 : (Color 2) : with a magic circle and 6 sc in that circle. Pull lightly to close.

Round 1 : [ch 2, 3 dc ; ch 2] all in the 1st fsc ;
(sl-st into the next fsc ; rep [to] once) ;
rep (to) all around and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.
Fasten off Colour 2, leaving a tail to attach.

Finishing : Holding both flowers together at their centres, join them up such that the little flower is in the front.  You could use a little floral button or a little pearl to hold them in place, or work in a French knot in the centre.
Attach the flower to the tic tac pin and see a little girl smile
