AHIRI JACKET

AHIRI JACKET - crochet pattern info from Sweet Nothings Crochet

This unusual four-row pattern repeat for a girl's frock-like jacket is one you should really try.  This jacket has several sizes and is really coolI’ve used some unbranded knitting cotton with a 3.75 mm crochet hook.  I added a cute cap to match the jacket.  Isn't it a really lovely combination?

Instructions :  Using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern.
Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.  This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

This is not my original pattern. Go Here or here for this pattern

What do you need before you start this pattern?
I always keep this info handy because sometimes (like for this pattern) the yarn/hook given does not match the yarn I have or want to use - so today I have adapted this pattern to suit my requirements.
I worked on the 4-yr old pattern to make it for a just over 3-yr old little girl

Measurements needed :
1) Full length of jacket (from shoulder to base of jacket)
2) Full length of sleeve (from shoulder to wrist)
3) Round chest
4) Round armhole

There are five parts to this creation, so let's start.

I found this chart that really helped me get my measurements.

Here are some videos for stitches I have used today

I worked my full project in one color, but the pattern uses several colors, so this video could come handy.

I took a few photos as I was working on my creation that may help clarify the construction.
we start with the fsc row and work left to right but the pattern then is top to bottom - like in the next picThis is how the skirt part will look top to bottom
so we start the fdc row and work left to right .. and but we're working the skirt in panels from top to bottom

one set of panels worked - 4 row repeatand this is how the skirt portion looks when done
the 4-row pattern repeat that creates one 'panel' .. and this is how the skirt portion looks when done
When we are finished with the skirt, we work along that top edgeWe create the yoke (with armholes) along that top edge
