Materials used : Today I’ve used about 200 gms 100% Kotton knitting cotton with a 3.75 mm crochet hook
Note : Amount of yarn needed for individual project(s) depends on size of yarn / hook, size you are making it for as well as the tension with which you work.  Amount given here is only for rough estimation for the size I’ve made it for.

For Indians : The yarn I’ve used is similar in thickness to our Laura knitting cotton.  Our lovely Indian Anchor knitting cotton , Red rose or White rose knitting cotton yarns are a good substitute.  I’d also suggest Alize cotton yarn

For Non-Indians : This yarn is similar in thickness to Lily Sugar n Cream cotton yarn. The other international yarns I’ve used of this thickness are Milford Satin knitting cotton, DMC Petra knitting cotton & Aunt Lydia Bamboo Viscose 10 knitting cottons.

You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

Size made : 34 (S/M)
You can make this project to any size.  Size here given only for rough estimation of yarn.

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.  This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

So what are we doing today? We are working on a gorgeous granny square pattern - one set of square and some triangles .. and then flipping them around till we get a cute little bustier.. How cool eh?
We will then add in a nice strap for the shoulders and one for the back (maybe?) just to wrap it all up neatly together.
Sounds fun? Come along and let's get this party started.

rep (to) till end.  Turn

Row 5 : Rep Row 3

Row 6 : sc in the 1st dc & in each dc till end.  Turn

Straps :
(Make two for shoulder)

So here I will give you an idea on how to work this, but I will not give you number of sts as this will vary per wearer.
This is how we intend to attach the straps.
The diagram below is not to scale.
diagram showing diamond & triangle placement

Strap detail
So you can either work a thin strap or a thick(er) one.
Here are two ideas for each type.  Choose what suits you

For a thin strap, re-attach your yarn at the top centre ch-sp and work this Easiest I-cord pattern
Easiest I-cord : https://youtu.be/e_AQ9m0QeZI

For a thin strap, re-attach your yarn at the top centre ch-sp and work a long fsc chain for the length you want.
The length needed is what will go from the top of the diamond (granny square), over the shoulder and attach somewhere near the bottom of the side triangle (just before the lower lattice pattern.
Join at that point and then work sc all the way back - just to get a slightly thicker strap.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Repeat for the other shoulder strap

For a thick(er) simple strap : Re-attach your yarn in the 2nd sc in the centre ch-sp (where you have 2 sc ; ch 2, 2 sc)
Work dc across 1 sc ; 2 dc in the ch-2 sp ; 1 dc in the next sc (4 dc in total) ; Turn ;
Work dc across all 4 dc till you have the length you need (again same length idea as above - and same way to attach)

For a thick(er) patterned strap : Re-attach your yarn in the 2nd sc in the centre ch-sp (where you have 2 sc ; ch 2, 2 sc)
Work dc across 1 sc ; 3 dc in the ch-2 sp ; 1 dc in the next sc (5 dc in total) ; Turn ;
Work dc across all 5 dc ;
{Work dc in the 1st dc ; (ch 1, sk next dc, dc in the next dc) ; rep (to) once ; Turn ;
Work dc in 1st dc ; (dc in ch-1 sp ; dc in dc) ; rep (to) once ; Turn ;
Work dc across all 5 dc in next 2 rows} ;
Rep {to} till you have the length you need (again same length idea as above - and same way to attach)

Strap finishing idea :
You could run a round of sc all around the edge of your strap for a neat finish for both the thick(er) strap ideas

Back Strap idea :
Re-attach your yarn at the back triangle end and work a long chain (or fsc chain) for the length you want for the back tie (I'd say about 75 fsc)
In case you work a long chain, then I'd suggest you work sl-st or sc all the way back to thicken your back strap.
Make a note of the number of stitches you are using to repeat for the other side.
Repeat on the other side.

Final finishing idea
This looks gorgeous as it is too - but here are ideas on how to add tassels and play with them too.
I had a little bit of yarn left and decided to add tassels.
