COME TO THE BEACH BLANKET

Today we are going to the beach. This darling blanket is worked in shades of brown and shades of blue to depict the sand and the sea. The beautiful ripple stitch does the rest. Then add on a few choice appliqués and you have a beach blanket even when you are not at the beach 😊

Materials used : Today I’ve used local 6-ply Ganga Alisha acrylic yarn with a 4.5 mm crochet hook ; fabric glue to seal ends

This yarn is not specific for this project.

You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros e ; Red rose metallic or unbranded knitting cotton as well as Oswal & V ardhaman acrylic yarns

International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

General yarn info : I’d say you can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this lovely project.

Double crochet 2-tog : dc 2-tog : [yo, insert hk in st or ch-sp, yo and pull up a lp ; yo and draw through 2 lps] 2 times (3 lps on hk) ;

{yo, draw through 2 lps on hk} 2 times. One dc 2-tog made.

Most ripple patterns use a dc. I worked mine using hdc.

Choose one that works for you.

1) Work the pattern for the length and width you need. All you need to remember is to start working with shades of brown (well, I only used one shade of brown but you could use a darker and lighter shade .. sand gets darker when wet). Then start with shades of blue to depict the water.
