Instruction information Using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all rows with a ch 1 turning chain for ease.
Please also check the top of this blog for neat video tutorials of all stitches used in today’s pattern sheet.  For your convenience, video tutorials are also added right where we will use them.
Please go through the full instruction sheet before you start, so you get an idea of what we’re doing.  Cheers.

Today we have four parts to our creation – making the motif, preparing the ring, the holding chain and then finishing and putting it all together.
For today’s motif, I just used up bits of yarn that I had – so there’s a bit of white, red and then the last round I worked in gold.  For the bangle cover, I worked with black sparkly yarn and for the holding chain, I worked in gold.
So a merry mix-n-match of yarn bits.
In case you too want to use up all your scrap yarn, this is the project for you.
I have not changed colors in any specific order, so in my pattern notes, there will be no mention of when to change colors. I’d say just add your colors as you go and see how it turns out.
And to change yarns neatly, check out the video link below.

How to change colors seamlessly : Here’s an easy video tutorial to show you how to change from the Main color to the Contrast or second color of yarn seamlessly.  View it at https://youtu.be/fRzSBja9jno

Part 1 : Tiny motif
Magic circle : To refresh your skill, please view this easy video https://youtu.be/ISC39yOqWro

What is a slip stitch : Here is a neat video tutorial at https://youtu.be/weB3QNbA8Iw

Double Crochet : dc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (3 lps on hk);
[yo, draw through 2 lps] twice.  One dc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/xdnjB27zpYo

Chainless start for Double Crochet : I dislike the ch-2 / ch – 3 start, and this is what I do to start my row of dc.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/wskv3iTjRx0

What is a chain stitch ? Here is an easy video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXx5ukBjKkY

Start Round 1 : with a magic circle and work 2 dc ;
ch 2, 2 dc all in the magic circle ;
(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in the next ch-2 sp) ;
rep (to) 2 times ;
ch 2 and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Note : In case working so many stitches in the magic circle is difficult for you, start with ch-4, join to the 1st st to make a circle, and then work the pattern as given.  The only difference here will be that your centre hole may be a bit large as it’s fixed, where as a magic circle can be tightened.

Round 2 : sl-st into the 1st ch-2 sp ;
(3 dc ; ch 2, 3 dc in the same ch-2 sp) ;
rep (to) 3 times ;
join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

We now have a four sided little motif, right?
Now in our final round we will be working all our sts in the ch-2 corner spaces, and then joining in the space between stitches.
Now there is no real space, (i.e no chain space). You will just have to push your hook between two sets of stitches and work the sc there.

Round 3 : sl-st into the 1st ch-2 sp ;
(7 dc ; ch 1, 7 dc in the same ch-2 sp ;
sk next 3 dc, sc in the the space between the two sets of 3 dc) ;
rep (to) 3 times ;
join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Do not fasten off.  Let’s work the holding chain right away.

So work 45 ch (turn your work) and join with a sl-st to the dc on the other side of Round 3.
Now I had a small gold ring that matched, so I added that in the centre of my 45 chain.  To see how I did that go to Part 3.
In case you are using thin yarn for this motif, the motif will not stay flat if you add the holding chain to it. So scroll down to Part 3 to see what to do.

Part 2 : Covering the ring or bangle
I used some sparkly black silk purse yarn to cover my bangle.
Now you do not need to use sparkly black / gold yarn.
Basically using any yarn, work one round of sc all around the ring, just like we did in yesterday’s creation.
To do this, you start with a slip knot around the ring and then work sc all around.

How do you work sc around the bangle / ring? Like you usually work an sc, but you work the hook around the bangle and then grab your yarn to work the sc.

Single Crochet : Sc : yo, insert hk into st ; yo (2 lps on hk); yo, draw through both lps.  One sc made.  Check out the video at https://youtu.be/ghACqBpA-3k

First stitch for Single Crochet : This is how I like to start my row of sc. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/6pVYRfsf4_M

Part 3 : The holding chain
I worked with some gold polyester silk purse yarn for the holding chain.
I had a matching little gold ring that I decided to use for the center of my holding chain.
So I worked 20 chain, then 5 sc around the little ring, and 20 chain again to join to the motif.

Now the other way to do this, especially if you are working with thin yarn for your motif, is to work the holding chain when working the bangle cover.

So once you finish joining at the end of Part 2, work the 45 chain, then skip a few stitches in between and attach to the ring.
So finish with the ring covering, sl-st to tidy that off first, and then work your holding chain.
Hold your project up to check stability.
As this is a really light motif, you may need less spaces in between.

Part 4 : Finishing and Putting it all together
Place the cute little motif in front of your prepared ring and neatly attach. I have attached only along the top of the motif, so the bottom of the motif is just lying over the towel ring.  When you pass the towel through, the motif will be pushed in front of the towel.
I used an embroidery needle.

Please use the photograph as a guide.

Secure your towel holder onto the wall and hang your towel through and smile.  This is a beautiful project , isn’t it?
Make it using any yarn and any hook that’s suitable for that yarn.

Go ahead and make a few to gift to friends.  Remember to share the photos with me so I can share them on my Facebook page.
