Sweet Nothings Crochet: A CAR STUFF TOY

An awesome 3D red car with all the details needed to make it look real

I have made two snuggles before this, but they were both (probably?) girly.. and this is for a cute little 3D car stuff toy for a little boy – this is what his mum has chosen for him and we're hoping he's going to love it too. This little crochet car is a really cute project that you must try.

For today's cute little car stuff toy I've used some soft 4-ply acrylic yarn with a 3mm crochet hook. Today I’ve used some of our lovely Indian Oswal 4-ply yarn with a 3 mm crochet hook. Thank you for joining me.

Materials used : Today I’ve used some of our lovely Indian Oswal 4-ply yarn with a 3 mm crochet hook ; a little embroidery thread ; embroidery needle ; fabric glue to seal ends ; crochet stitch markers ; poly-fill stuffing ; stocking net ; beads n more

For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red rose , 4-ply knitting cotton , or unbranded knitting cotton or White Rose or bamboo knitting cotton , Milk cotton ; Silk yarns as well as Vardhaman acrylic yarns ; Baby soft acrylic yarn , Ganga Spectrum as well

General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.

You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size

International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn , Lily Sugar n' Cream cotton yarn, Caron Simply Soft , Bernat Softee chunky.

Difficulty level : Intermediate Skill level ; minimum sewing skills to join ends.

Abbreviations used :

lp(s) : Loop(s) sc : Single crochet

Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.

So before we set off on our new creative journey, let’s take a quick look at what we’re creating here today.

There are several little parts to this little car and I’ve made them all individually, stuffed them and then joined them all together.

I’ve taken lots of photos .. so have fun.. create something precious for someone precious. I found this pattern here

The link provides a neat pattern. The only difference is that I’ve used the fantastic magic circle and the fsc start where ever I could. I always feel that these methods give the neatest finish.

The pattern sheet does not give instructions for the lights and door handles, but that’s just a little creativity thrown in. I’ve added as much detail as I could .. I’m sure you saw the windscreen wiper (which makes the windscreen look like shut eyes .. a naughty look at that, isn’t it? :) ) But that’s where you can go a little crazy .. throw in an antenna, why don’t you!? Create and see the smile grow on the face of that lil one you present this to.

To avoid the stuffing from showing through or coming out of the gaps, I make stocking net balls. So wrap your stuffing into a small bit of stocking net, and then sew the top up. Make balls of different sizes that you can stuff into the car.

I'd suggest using similar coloured stocking net as your yarn, so that the net does not show through.
