Today on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, I
have decided to make this lovely flower motif which can be used as a tea light
holder as well.

Materials used : Indian Polyester yarn with a 4 mm crochet hook.
For Non-Indians : The polyester yarn that I’ve used is only available locally in India. This is about a 4 / 5-ply thikness.
This yarn is not specific for today'sn creation
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this pattern.
Difficulty level : Intermediate to advanced skill level

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.
This is not my pattern. I found this free pattern on Ravelry and used
only part of the pattern to make this project. Welcome back as we work on this
new challenge together.
This flower looks a lot like a
poinsettia as well, so it would work for Christmas time as well, don’t you
agree?
The pattern on ravelry says
crocodile stitch dahlia flower.
For this pattern, I have worked
the motif square / block till Round 7.

The centre flat part is just
right to hold a tea light candle.
Note that I used a protector around my tea light candle and it
worked fine. I would however, strongly
urge you to take a look at the LCD tea light candle range available these days
to avoid a fire hazard.
The beauty of this pattern is
that you can use any hook, any yarn and no matter how small or large you make
it, it will look superb!
If you want, you could actually
add a bead at the end of each petal. I
thought about this after I had finished this flower motif. So if you so decide, you would need a total
of 16 beads (one each for the 16 petals). You could add 8 small and 8 large
beads, using the smaller beads for the inner petals of course.
