BUTTERFLY MOTIF EAR RING

I’ve made several butterfly motifs before and in this blog, I am just making them into ear rings.  Check out the various patterns and let’s see how many ways we can use it.

Thank you for joining me.

Oh, and may I add that the fastest way to find any of my blogs is via Pinterest.

All my blogs can be printed.  Find the printer friendly (green) link at the bottom of this blog.  You can also hit Control P (or Command P for Mac) on your keyboard, and the blog will go directly to the connected printer.

Remember that you only print if absolutely essential.  Save paper – Save Our Earth.

Do remember to add my blog URL when you make and show off your creation.

Just copy the link on the search bar above - that's the blog URL.

To purchase this or similar yarn online, click here to buy your yarns online via Amazon.  While you will still pay the same, I may get paid by Amazon as well.

This is a free blog - so do pay it forward for me.  Cheers.

Materials used : Today I’ve used a combination of our lovely Indian Red rose knitting yarn (regular and metallic) ; as well as some Kamal kadai / kankri polyester silk yarn with a 1.75 mm crochet hook ; ready-made ear ring hooks (one pair minimum) ;   rings ; beads ; connector rings ; glue to seal ends.

For Indians : You could use Anchor or unbranded knitting cotton as well
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.
General yarn info : Today’s yarns are available only in India, but they’re just really light yarns and the kankri yarn is something like embroidery floss.  The finer the yarn, the thinner each petal, and the cuter the end result – so go ahead and use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

Before we delve into the new patterns, here are the ones I’ve made before

For this pattern, I found a chart.  Here are my notes as I make my own creation.

Difficulty level : Intermediate
We start with a magic circle and work a whole set of stitches directly into it.  All in that first round and we’re done.

Triple Crochet : trc : wrap yarn twice around hook, insert hk into st ; yo (4 lps on hk); [yo, draw through 2 lps] three times.  One trc made.
Check out the video at https://youtu.be/A0y4BbgDTbs

Start Round 1 : with a magic circle and work
(2 ch ; 1 hdc ; 2 dc ; 1 trc ; ch 6 , 1 sc ;
ch 6, 1 trc ; 2 dc ; 1 hdc ; ch 2, 1 sc ;
ch 2, 1 hdc ; 1 dc ;
ch 3, sl-st ; ch 3, 1 dc ; 1 hdc ; ch 2,  1 sc) ;
sl-st and join to the 1st st.
Pull lightly to close.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Re-attach yarn in the sc in-between the 2 ch-6 sts and make two antennae for your butterfly.  The antennae are just two bits of yarn that you attach into that space and tie down tight.  Ensure that you glue them down, glue the antennae too (with water proof glue) so that they stand up straight.

If you are making these into ear rings, attach a yarn onto the ends of the butterfly wings and sew them onto your ear ring hooks OR just add metal ear ring loops into the centre of the two antennae and then attach your ear ring piece onto the loops.

For my last set of cute little butterfly motifs, I found this lovely page.  Hit Google translate for changing language http://www.horgolt.com/p/horgolt-pillango-mintak.html
