TRIBHUJA SCARF

I love asymmetric triangular scarves because of the way they make the simplest stitches and patterns look so much more complicated.
This is my original pattern.

Tribhuja : ত্রিভুজ means triangle in Bangla.

With this scarf, we start at one corner, and then just increase along one edge – this means that you will get one fixed edge and one ‘growing edge’.  The beauty of this pattern is you can make it as long/wide/large as you want!
Come along .. Let’s get right to it

In the last few days, I’ve worked on several pieces of neckwear – and I’m working with a combination of those ideas to make this triangular scarf.
This is my own pattern.

As I said before, with our asymmetric scarf, we start with a few stitches and then keep working, increasing along one side – such that we have one straight side (that goes around neck) and a growing triangle along the other side that is fashionably draped around the chest ;)
The beauty of this pattern is that you can make it as long as you want – just keep working till you finish your skein.. how easy is that, right?

Our pattern today is worked in sets of 2-dc with a ch-sp in between.
We work our 2-dc set in the ch-sps only and get a slowly growing triangle.  Got it?

Start Row 1 : with a magic circle.
Work (2 dc ; ch 1, dc) in that circle.
Pull lightly to close but do not join – leave as a semi circle.  Turn.

Note : We could work this another way if you are not happy with the magic circle start.  Start with ch 3, and work (to) in the 3rd ch from hook.
I just think that the magic circle gives a neater finish.

Row 2 : (2 dc ; ch 1, 2 dc) in the 1st ch-1 sp ;
ch 1, dc in the last dc.  Turn.

Row 3 : 2 dc in the 1st ch-1 sp ;
ch 1, (2 dc ; ch 1, 2 dc) in the next ch-1 sp.  Turn.

Row 4 : (2 dc ; ch 1, 2 dc) in the 1st ch-1 sp ;
[ch 1, 2 dc in the next ch-1 sp] ;
ch 1, dc in the last dc.  Turn.

Row 5 : 2 dc in the 1st ch-1 sp ;
2 dc in each ch-1 sp till the last ch-1 sp
ch 1, (2 dc ; ch 1, 2 dc) in the last ch-1 sp.  Turn.

Row 6 : (2 dc ; ch 1, 2 dc) in the 1st ch-1 sp ;
[ch 1, 2 dc in the next ch-1 sp] ;
rep [to] in the each ch-1 sp till the last ch-1 sp ;
ch 1, (sk 2nd last dc), dc in the last dc.  Turn.

Easy enough, right?
Continue on, repeating Rows 5 and 6 till you have a gorgeous shelled triangular scarf.
Remember that with each row you will have one more 2-dc set and will always end with the (2 dc ; ch 1, 2 dc) along the increase edge. It’s that simple.

Another tweak will be to work 3 dc in each ch-sp and work the same (2 dc ; ch 1, 2 dc) along the increase edge.  This will give you a thicker/ chunkier / more full project, which works especially if you are working with a finer yarn.
Go ahead, create and make something unique.

Finishing :
If you have a little yarn left behind, you can make tassels at each end.
Attach one tassel to the first and one to the last triangles.
